What does Rolling Stone EVER know about music? That's the irony - a music magazine, shares a name with one of the greatest rock bands ever, knows shit about music.

I saw this on Facebook. I love Chaos & Disorder. I just listened to it the other day, actually. I have edited that stupid rap out of "I Rock, Therefore I Am" and it's 100% better.

It's the truth. There is half a good album there and then some songs nobody would've begged for release.

I like 7 out of the 11 tracks.

I'm curious why people think it's so bad. I guess it's bad for a Prince album but not a bad album for general standards.

The guitar solo at the end of I Will is one of my alltime favorites.

Nothing on that side of the record deserved release.

Best lists based on opinion are, at best, problematic.

Worst lists are worse and mostly just for click bate and to provoke user interaction.

Chaos and Disorder is not Prince's worst, nor is it bad.

It doesn't matter, those list are for clicks, discussion and promoting their website. They had to pick something from big artists, to get their names on the list. He actually made out pretty good. Most of those were legit releases by artists, while Chaos was just a contract album. I can see why people are worked up though, it's low-key good. I freaking love Into the Light/I Will, that gem never gets any love.

They should have gone with Rave Un2 or In2 the Joy Fantastic, it's a legit release and he was chasing that Santana magic with Clive Davis.

Just my opinion but I'm very happy Into The Light / I Will got released.

.

P of course didn't help the albums cause with the 'contract obligation' stuff but anything with that version of NPG and a bit of Rosie is my cup of tea.

It’s far from his strongest album, but it’s also far from his worst album. They should have picked Rave.

It's not a great album but has some really good songs on it, but it's almost a masterpiece compared to Art Official Age or Hit and Run Phase 1

AOA is a great album IMO...Prince's best album since the early 90s...hitnrun1 was pretty bad, not not as awful as C&D

It's not wonderful as a whole, but I have no idea why a lot of people say "Right the Wrong" is bad or one of his worst songs. It's one of the BEST. A lot of Prince fans have questionable taste within the Prince universe though. Quite narrow-minded, seems to me.

Right the Wrong is fun and quirky. Good message that's well delivered with strong lyrics. And the horns are magical! Truly some of the best horns I've ever heard. It could have been produced slightly better though. There's a little clipping on some of the vocals.

Other standouts on this album for me are "Dinner With Delores" and "Zannalee".

Love these two. The songs from C&D are not songs that I listen to all the time, they're not special or unique but it doesn't mean they're bad per say.

I remember when it came out I was really underwhelmed. First Prince record really that I did not listen to nonstop for days when it came out. Thought it was quite boring back then...

Listened to it again some years ago - still, not feeling it much...

Will give it a try again tonight - maybe...

It's in the list because a) they wanted Prince in the list and b) as a 'contractual obligation' album, it was clearly one that Prince didn't have a lot of love for (he made it clear he was being forced into it).

.

It was very much presented in the press at the time as one that Prince didn't care about. What was ignored was the songs themselves were not recorded as an obligation - they just happened to end up on this album.

.

And what is odd about the review referenced is that this feels like a very coherent album, just like the other contractual obligation release that was handed over to Warner at the same time as this one, Old Friends 4 Sale.

You should 100% make a bootleg compilation of all the bits you edited out of Prince's songs and name it:

'Add An E 2 Rap'!

It's never been a favorite of mine. I consider it bad overall as well. Not everything Prince released was a masterpiece or even great.

HA! I'd laugh harder with the r*pe reference. BUT, I take no shame in editing Tony M. out of his music, and it is 100% better. There are a few edits I did on Emancipation and "I Rock," too.
I took "Shy" out of TGE playlist and re-segued the inbetween sounds. Not really anything else.

BUt let's be honest, that stupid ass rap in "I Rock" is totally useless.

But according to Susan Rogers, his engineer for a while, he thought they were all great.

I got to see him perform those on the Today show (morning news). Tho "see" is a bit of a stretch. That was before they had a stage. He was just in the street, so even tho I'm quite tall, I could hardly see the little bugger through the crowd.

Luckily the only thing that matters is how you view the album.
