Why do you think Prince didn't do any musical projects with Manuela ? She stands out as the only public woman involved with Prince he didn't try to turn into some sort of musical project regardless of whether or not they could sing or were talented it seems like he always wanted them to do something musical with them. We should be grateful that he didn't. His previous endeavours with putting women in front of a mic in recording studios were awful. Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc. |

I seem to remember reading on the Org once he tried to get her on stage and she wouldn't go. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

You didn't specify what he wanted Manuela to do on stage, I assumed it was singing. I'm pretty sure he didn't want his wife to shake her ass in front of everyone. [Edited 2/9/23 16:31pm] |

[Edited 2/9/23 16:31pm] You mean like his first wife? Anyway, he never tried to make Manuela a protege for the reason I stated. This wasn't even an issue when they got married as he knew her before he ended his first one. Any designs on performance she would've had would've come out then. They didn't. He didn't try. That wasn't her lane and he at least respected that much. |

I guarantee she's got a triple-album in The Vault.
\ The problem with a lot of his protege records or lackthereof in the early 00s was nobody was going to distribute them. This is why the Tamar album fell through and why he had to tack on Bria's album as a bonus disc to his Lotusflow3r/MPLSound... and people still used it as a coaster.
I'm with OP. I refuse to believe he just magically accepts "no" for the first time in his career, literally every one of these non-singer women he did entire albums for tell a story about how they told him they didn't want to be singers. Homie was putting dames into hypnoparadise and delivering the album written/produced/performed with all the trimmings, all they had to is mumble some dubbed vocals over his. More than likely he couldn't get distribution so in the pile the tracks went. |

The only thing seems to be her appearance in the Come On video.

He had zero distro issues when he married the woman and The Rainbow Children and NPGMC should make that clear to you and any other curious party. He met the woman in 1998 and she was in the Paisley camp until he locked her out of his house in May 2005. Plenty of opportunities to release an album that doesn't exist. |

No she didn't. She kept shaking her ass on stage after they were married (Paisley Park parties) She stopped when she knew she was preganant and the whole aftermath of that.

Tamar's album was already in some shops when Prince pulled it. It had nothing to do with distribution.

I think with Manuela perhaps he liked the newness of having a girlfriend and then wife who was more interested in helping behind the scenes with organising things, overseeing the websites, and having a charitable organisation set up as well as helping out with the love4oneanother charity. I think that she really did have a mind of her own and that is exactly what attracted Prince for once, and he left her to do the things she was good at and actually wanted to do.

Music was Prince's life, I always felt like he used it as a way to get closer to people, whether it's friends or women he loved. Working on a musical project was a chance for them to have something in common. |

The org can't handle the truth.
They're all a bunch of protégé misogynists around here anyway. They all wish the Apollonia, Sheila, Ingrid, Carmen, Martika, Mayte, Tamar, Bria and that Diamond and Pearl white label were buried in the deepest, darkest crevices of The Vault so they don't look so completely ridiculous ignoring a solid 10-15% of their supposed favorite artists' central discography. They just want that linndrum classique funk times infinity, even while the true 3-Michelin star magnum opus that surely is the obviously-shelved Manuella triple-disc is staring them right in their collective neckbeards.

That says nothing of their commonalities. That's like saying because two people went to dinner at In N Out, they have Animal Style burgers in common.
Prince involved performer and artist girlfriends in his music. The non performer or artist girlfriends weren't recording albums. Maneca, Troy, Kim Upsher, yes Manuela, and plenty others didn't have albums recorded and that's okay. They weren't aspiring singers. He put them in music videos or in photographs and that was it. It doesn't mean they didn't have oodles of shit in common.
One thing that clearly defined his relationship with Manuela is that she was a career woman when they met and he didn't try to force her to change that career which is commendable and mature on his part.
Edit: and before you go there, yes he tried (and failed) to get Kim Upsher to be in The Hookers. He settled for having her in Purple Rain and other videos. [Edited 2/10/23 13:33pm] |

you hold onto your 2 1/2 flip-floppy examples, we'll hold onto our 74+ concrete examples. Even Kim Basinger was on trax. Perhaps he "settled" on a slew of Vault videos for Manuella as well. |
