I haven't heard where Jack White isn't releasing it, from Jack White himself.

I've asked elsewhere, I'll ask again here: what is the source for the "information" that Camille will be released this year?

Looking way back through Jack White's IG, I couldn't find any mention of this project.

Because he talked about it on tv and articles. Just google it.

I have searched. All I can find are articles from 2022, which all state there is no release date. BTW, almost none of those articles quote Jack White.

Why don't you post a link quoting a reliable source stating it will be released this year?

He hasn't announced it's NOT being released this year, therefore it IS being released this year? falloff

There was never a release date. Why are you suggesting that one was mentioned?

You asked before? When? Where? Not in this thread.

And just googling "Jack White Camille" shows TONS of articles with JW quotes in the damn headline. What the hell are you even searching for? Ceviche recipes?

Interesting about the supposed gender of the character Camille.
Was always under the impression she was female, due to the Shockadelica lyrics:

The bed's on fire
Your fate is sealed
And you're so tired
And the reason is Camille-mille, Shockadelica
The girl must be a witch
She got your mind, body, and soul hitched, Shockadelica
You need a second opinion but she never wears a stitch
So you can't take her home

Interesting interpretation of the lyrics but my understanding is that the girl is Shockadelica, with Camille being the male who has his ‘soul hitched’ by Shockadelica. Lots of different spins on many Prince songs, so always worth hearing how others hear things.
There may or may not be something coming!

Maybe neither of you are familiar with the extended version?

Shockadelica is a feeling, the lonely cold
Sleepin' alone will bore ya and.. and soon U grow old
In lust we will suffer, but in love we will grow
Shockadelica is a feeling nobody should know
I'm talkin' about the lonely cold mama

Shockadelica is not the girl. Camille is the boy.

Just read on Wikipedia that Jesse Johnson stated in a November 1986 Billboard article, “Shockadelica was a term he [Jesse] had used for years to describe an excited feeling he got from a song or woman.”

So thanks LoveGalore, for that correction. Who’s the girl that Camille is on about in the song then?

I actually think it's no particular girl. It's any girl that he finds very sexy when he's feeling extremely lonely! The girl must be a witch because he's under her hex (like in Love & Sex) but the way the song plays out... He becomes mean and rude ("nasty bitch!") and extremely hungry for her affection but it turns evil. No one should be that lonely, etc etc.

I've been looking but so many of the MJ fans are Stockholm syndrome sufferers convinced that leaks prevent actual releases and they refrain from actually listing what is now out there. Little do they know, Sony ain't planning shit anyway and when they do something the effort is minimal if not blatant fraud.

Thanks, I am familiar with it. That's the reason I figured that... if "shockadelica" was a feeling, then the "witch" referred to in the rest of the song lyrics must be Camille. Definitely don't hear anything in that song to suggest Camille is male, not that it matters much. Happy to be disproven etc.

It's just wordplay to say it's his own fault for being so lonely. He could've said "the reason is Prince" and it would mean the same thing. The reason he's all fucked up is because he is experiencing shockadelica and it warps his brain.

Interesting interpretation, feels like a bit of a stretch though? Or at least, that isn't my read of the lyric at all.

(The lights go out)
The lights go out, the smell of doom
Is creepin' into your lonely room
The bed's on fire, your fate is sealed
And U're so tired and the reason is Camille-mille

Shockadelica - The girl must be a witch
She got your mind, body, and soul hitched
Shockadelica - U need a second opinion, but she never wears a stitch
So U can't take her home

If Camille wasn't the "witch" under discussion, the inclusion of that lyric ("the reason is Camille") feels a bit out of place no? So this girl has you in a trance, your fate is sealed and you're exhausted.... but the reason is yourself? Oh well, this is probably not a song that deserve such lyrical scrutiny smile

My interpretation is that Camille is entranced by the witch and Camille proceeds to fuck the witch's brains out.

Wow, you really are insecure about skincolor are you? Anyway, real fans know Third Man pressed the SOTT 7 inch vinyl boxset in association with the Estate so not much of a stretch to hope for an eventual release of Camille by Jack White and he said he's up for it.
To bad no black artists have the respect for Prince's legacy to do something like Jack White want's to do and has done for Prince's legacy and his fans. ( lol just to feed your racist bullshit)

Jack White's last name was Gillis. When he married Meg White, The drummer for the white stripes, he took her name, therefore becoming Jack White. No racism there, just young love and marriage.

Hence the band name. The White Stripes. As in Jack and Meg White.
