So every time you find a picture or see a picture of D&P era online you think it's a sign of a D&P SDE that has never been officialy announced and so far only exists as fan rumors?
That's like creating a thread with 'A sign 4 the Parade SDE?' every time Kiss is somwhere played on the radio.

I would hope so, but I don't think it means anything. The spotify prince page has had a diamonds and pearls artwork backdrop for a few years now.

They've been posting "signs" for like a year now, I don't think any of it means shit. We'll be lucky if we get anything substantial from the estate in 2023

It's not a D&P SDE anything. The music on that short clip is Kiss.

The only thing I consider a sign:

the only thing I thought when they announced that single was "ah, they had an SDE ready to go a while back, with doubtless a number of cool outtakes but for whatever reason we won't get that SDE now. but they decided to at least release a limited edition single since the SDE was pretty much done anyway and pulling 2 songs off it for a limited single release is easy money at this point. it makes perfect sense for the people pulling the strings to consider these 2 songs the most crucial to release out of all the diamonds & pearls SDE stuff, yes".

the only thing missing at this point is an official source to say "ah yes, we were given the total package of that diamonds & pearls SDE and told that we could pick whatever 2 tracks we wanted and release them on a single. so going off our initial reaction on hearing all the material and listening also to what people have been wanting for the longest time, we chose these 2 iconic tracks. in a mind bending performance that left us speechless when we first heard these tapes".

but wasn't there anything else of worth on that sde? well, yes, a prince solo album recorded after GB and before D&P, something no one has heard before, but we thought that these 2 live tracks would make a more impactful statement since D&P and NC2U are his best loved ballads of all time.

It s a re-release, such as Gold Expérience.

I beg 2 differ. A re-release would only be if The Estate re-released SYRACUSE 1985 on VHS and LaserDisc. I consider this year's deluxe box set version of it 2 be an SDE. The audio and video were remastered for the Blu-ray, there's a book, and the vinyl and CD recordings are the 1st time it has been officially released on audio formats. I am still holding out hope 4 the D&P SDE announcement, but won't write-off the year unless they don't announce it by September. I do agree that TGE vinyl is a re-release.

I'm making this statement in a more general sense, not toward you: Fans are "disappointed" because the estate hasn't met your expectations.

The estate is not here to meet every individuals expectations. Sure, they want to give fans something that is viable, as well as the general public. There are more consumers than the hardcore fan base.

So maybe put those expectations aside, and just ride the wave. Things will come out. There's obviously no way they've reached the end of all viable material. They're a business. We're not. Besides, they just released the LIVE set. And while it's not new, isn't it a bit new? We've never had a CD of it, never had a bluray, never had it remixed and remastered, and re-scanned. Never had good packaging on it. Y'all gotta give a product time to saturate the market and sell copies. The general public is not sitting on the edge of their seats waiting, like we are.

We gotta throttle down a bit. It's only June. Enjoy y'all's summer, then we'll reconvene in the fall.

Obviously he can't predict the future, nor reveal much being bound to an NDA, but he created false expectations by answering the question that way. He could have just said, "No idea how many releases per year, as there are many factors at play," and left it at that.

I get that. But he never said it would be two a year. It's not his job to decide that. But also, it's a lot of fan's expectations. I think maybe Howe was referencing the sheer amount of material. Cuz we've all heard that "one a year for 50 years" stuff.

True but unfortunately, it seems that the new team has other things in mind than releasing new music for the fans. Just a look at their Twitters kind of gives you hints of what's important to them.

There more into hype and myth instead what Prince actually thought and did.

It is sad that the estate's idea of throwing fans a bone is rereleasing a single concert for the 2nd time since Prince's passing. Just because it's available in a few newer formats doesn't really make up for the sheer laziness of pursuing this instead of brand new content, but, whatever. Let 'em keep milking the bare minimum for all they can.
