It is sad that the estate's idea of throwing fans a bone is rereleasing a single concert for the 2nd time since Prince's passing. Just because it's available in a few newer formats doesn't really make up for the sheer laziness of pursuing this instead of brand new content, but, whatever. Let 'em keep milking the bare minimum for all they can.

Yeah they could easily just release another unreleased album from the vault like they did last year with W2A. I'm really disappointed so far this year.

Still, there's the end of the year holidays coming up.

We never know (for sure).

Fingers crossed !

I'm hopefull.

I wouldn't even buy D&P. Couldn't stand the original, with Strollin' the only half decent song on there.

It needs to be...In the following order.

Parade - Super Deluxe

Purple Rain - Super Deluxe (re-release)

Around The World In A Day - Super Deluxe

Dirty Mind - Super Deluxe

Lovesexy / The Black Album... - Super Deluxe

I contacted third man records about a month ago asking for a release date for Camille and got this response,

“Thanks for reaching out! We don't have any dates confirmed yet, but keep an eye on socials for updates!“

Edit: Oddly, just seen this re-hash of details -is it a sign?!

There would be nothing this year.
"They" Can only do re-releases, and that's why we got that shitty Live in Syracuse again.

Even the regular edition of Gold vinyl that was due to October 2022, has been postponed indefinitely.

When everything will be settled in court, then "they" Could work on other projects. I m afraid it could take a very long time.

re-edit?

why would they need to re edit it if he has the original promo vinyl?

or does he mean re edit the masters to mirror the promo he has?

who knows.

encouraging news though.

That is the SDE I want the most! I'll buy them all.

I am excited about the D&P box too, since it was my first P album.

Dirty Mind would be mindblowing with all the unheard material.

This Revolution live album is the first I won't buy. I bought the audio on iTunes, thinking that would be it.

Again there are SO MANY forces at work here, its not just the estate, its that the estate is dealing with different contracts, Sony Legacy, Warner Brothers, who owns what stuff who gets to release it, NPG records, who is overseeing it, is it new material, old material, who are the players on it. Prince may have seemed like an organized person on stage and with his wardrobe, but as far as vaulting stuff and cataloging it he was not, yes he had records of things but he's all over the map. Add on the fact the estate also is doing Merch, celebrations, tours of paisley park, and that place is not running an operating FREE of charge, so you have to figure money is going out but its not like there is AN ARTIST on tour generating money to keep all this going. Streaming and catalog sales new and old things only break in so much money. For an artist gone 6 years theres a hell of a lot more out there than other artists who had big catalogs gone the same amount of time.

not that it matterts, but i dare to guess that even his wardrobe wasn't all that well organised.

and funny to realise that, six years after his death, his so called 'freedom' and longing to be 'free' from contracts with the industry, his own created complicated shit still remaines the same for ever and ever it seems.

You are incorrect about this. The Diamonds and Pearls/Nothing Compares 2U single that was distributed at the Paisley Park celebration about a month ago was manufactured and distributed by Sony Legacy (a quick search on Discogs reveals a pic of the front and back of the single). That's vault material. I'm pretty confident that we will see a D&P SDE this fall, and I cannot wait.

Interview with Michael Bland last year on The Current, The Celebration was D&P-centric, new D&P mercy showing upon the store. Those are all pretty good indicators. Thos3 who think they know what's going on legally with The Estate are full of shit.

Things have changed these past months...Battle between the heirs is currently
going to take control of the Estate and Contract signed between Netflix and The Estate does not allow the Estate to release any new unreleased video stuff from the Vault before the release of Netflix documentaries about Prince, Netflix has the total control for exclusive things from the Vault...there are some of the reasons beyond others!

LOL Netflix has control over the Prince estate's assets. That's a new one.

The new legacy team (Primary Wave/SNJ) will be in charge of the Estate at the end of this month. Comerica is out of the game now.

And yes, don't expect a D&P SDE Box anytime soon.

Well as much as he was for "Freedom" from contracts, he signed ALOT of deals later in his life, he signed some deals with WB years before his death, there were publishing deals, deals with Tidal etc...so he may have been about Freedom but he more or less wanted to just be free to sign and make money his way.

D&P was my first Prince album as well and it might not be his best album but there's plenty of good songs on it and there's lots of awesome outtakes. I think it deserves an SDE release and I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
