If this is Prince, it would have been found fortuitously.

There's a teacher's strike in MPLS now and the footage to be shown on WCCO would be from April 1970. Prince would have been 11 and interviewed about the strike -- and the TV station might have dug up the footage to show what the last strike was liike.

I agree. The little guy in the photo looks just like Prince. We shall see. If there's sound, we may hear his childish voice?

I'm finding video retrospectives (WCCO!) of the 1970 strike.

I don't see a student interviewed here but there could be a fleeting student glimpse?
I see "Edison" (P's school) on a sign: TAKE A LOOK; I HAVE "OLD EYES".

This could have easily been the kind of situation where an editor just thought "Oh neat" and assumed it was already circulating.

The amount of uncatalogued archival material is shocking, and few projects really have the time or funds to look at unseen footage, if there's even access to it. A lot of tv stations kept acrhives in old sheds, and basements.

In the case of Prince, you are correct. This is such a random thing and obviously, they're not going to go through all of their archives.

Previously, we saw the snippet of Grand Central performing at the demolition of the older YWCA building -- and now this.

I believe there are special people in the world who the camera is attracted to. Of all the students they could have interviewed, they picked this one beautiful 11-year-old. It'd be interesting to know why.

I didn't know how to save the video and I was too busy watching.
OMG what a treasure.

That Prince documentary will have to be rewritten to include this.

There is the regular report, then there's a behind the scenes sorta thing within the article, another video, where the reporter and camera guy (?) sit down to talk about the process of it all.

I'm utteraly speechless watching this. Just blown away.
