Well, that’s just reduced a 48 year old man to tears.
I'm a woman, but the same age. I busted out crying right after I saw this. It was so amazing and beautiful. He of course looks like himself, but I also noted he had particular mannerisms when speaking that he carried into adulthood. It was so sweet.
I love concert footage and seeing rare photos and all that, but this just is on another level to me. Maybe because it is so rare or maybe because it's just innocent Prince, on the cusp of puberty and teenagehood, when everything changes. He's not yet on his trajectory to superstardom, but we all know what was right around the corner. |

Great footage, something I thought we'd never see. Something o' da hood about him here, like he could become a big ass rapper.
Hoping some audio recordings will also surface where he's much younger than 17. If he was playing multiple instruments as early as 10 or 11, then why not?

-Exactly-
His way of saying 'Uhm' remained exactly the same.
His eyes.
What strikes me positively though that he is real confident and straightforward in giving his answers to an adult interviewee, and not the shy kid I expected him to be.
Calm, happy , responsive, and not even over excited. except for the great smiles.
Makes me very happy. S U P P O R T --- U K R A I N E --- N O W --- 4 --- MORE PEACE !!!

Hi!
Please forgive the side question... But I see the word 'GOAT' thrown around a lot recently (not just here). What does that mean? Obviously it's not referring to an actual goat, so I'm curious.
Thank you |

Great bit of footage. His accent is stonger than I thought it would be. It's funny to think that little guy would write 'Head' 9 years later. . |

AMAZING! But weird that they didn't contact Tyka for confirmation in the news piece. Or maybe they did?? Wouldn't be surprised if the estate is all pissed about not owning the footage. |

Mind blowing. So cool to see.
I am curious how many of the childhood friends Prince kept in contact with.

Utterly speechless here. Of all things to surface.... simply, wow! Who's the private d*ck that's a sex machine to all the chicks?
Who's the man that would risk his neck for his brother man?
Who's the cat who won't cop out when there's danger all about?
John Shaft ... Damn Right! |

All that "confirmation" was padding the few seconds of video. We ALL knew ommediately that it was him but they needed more story.
I'm not sure Tyka is around but why would the estate be pissed? They had no chance of knowing about it, it was never televised. It was just accidentally found, raw footage.

Never said they knew in advance but I'm sure the estate, Tyka, or Paisley would have been the first call made by WCCO. |

Mind blowing? Speechless? Wow? Amazing?
It's a semi interesting enough find, but the reactions here and elsewhere seem a little ott. What would be amazing if it were footage of him singing and/or playing an instrument. |

Prince(r.i.p.) could have easily been a child star so much charisma & presence. The camera loved him.
Divine intervention has come to give his most loyal fans in April a gift after the tragic lost six years ago. Something we NEVER seen before a genius in the making. "That mountain top situation is not really what it's all cracked up 2 B when was doing the Purple Rain tour had a lot of people who knew 'll never c again @ the concerts.just screamin n places they thought they was suppose 2 scream." |

No. That's not how the news, or copyrights, work.
WCCO may **license** the footage for use in the upcoming Netflix documentary. That's about how far it will go, financially. It's already been corrupted by people cutting and pasting it into their own stupid Facebook "groups" as if it's their own.
Tyka is pretty much nonresponsive to everything anymore.

It showed up weeks ago, it was specially scheduled and promoted as part of their Grammy coverage.

That's true. Her response might have made it cuter or more adoring. But given the response to almost anything she's said in the past it's unknown how it would be received. Probably better for her to enjoy it privately for now. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

It wasn't aired as part of the original report; it's raw footage (everything that was shot that day) kept in the archive. That's why it was undiscovered.

Who would have ever imagined that the most important item from the 'vault' wasn't a song... and it wouldn't come from Prince's own vault. You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City |

donnadiavolo said: This is more interesting than the Grammys lol Um, since the Sticky is locked, Prince did lose the historical Grammy to his idol, Joni, who was in attendance. Presentation wasn't aired. Very few awards were given out on air, actually. The (3.5 hour) show has been pared down to music for teens, mostly. |
