Streaming Platform [Wish List]

[Misleading title edit - luv4u]

Hot off the presses, a quote I just read from that one French forum, that some sort of streaming/download/something platform is being prepared to deliver content, namely live videos of aftershows at this point in time, and will roll out some time in 2022.

Personally I think it'll probably be scrapped in favor of more colored LP releases if it even existed in the first place, but it would be nice. What do we think of this and what do we hope to see format wise? This has been discussed to death, but is it really happening? Probably not. Discuss.

Calm down my friends !

Iam french ....iam on this forum....i read the post....it is just a wish from a poor some fan desesperate to see this wish happening in our reality.....just a wish...a dream....nothing more !!

Post from this Forum translated

"The year 2022 is going to be wonderful. We are finally going to enjoy the masters we have been waiting for.Between the platform that the estate is preparing for us to serve us anthology videos such as the 1982 First Avenue, the 1983 First Avenue or the 1983 First Avenue, without forgetting aftershows such as the 1988 Camden or the 1993 Rex, to name only the ones we know, and many others.Doors were opened to us, but it was above all the general public that would not return home from discovering these nuggets. Prince will be the talk of the town. This time, we'll get real transfers, not like the botched videos that were put on DVD like 1999 deluxe or purple rain deluxe. Some people will probably say I'm dreaming, we'll see, but it is all possible.I'm not even talking about the studio material that will be revealed. Projects that we didn't know about. And then, if all that doesn't happen, it's still good to dream a little, in the middle of a pandemic, you relax your mind as you can, no matter how jealous the intolerant people are, because they are too bitter to have positive thoughts about the future ."

I was gonna say - this isn't even a rumor. It's a wishlist by a random nobody. It also makes the title of the thread very misleading, and 100% untrue.

there is too much stuff to release it all physically--so some kind of streaming is going to have to happen.

Oh year sure, the people who couldn't manage to release anything except a single album in 2021 are going to develop a streaming service, despite the Estate still being mired in various tax issues etc.

the tax issues seems to be settled or about to be, But YES if they want to even release half of what was recorded in the next 50 years they will need to put it on some form of stream or digital access. I am talking largely of non-studio recordings.

A Prince Netflix, for a reasonable subscription price, I would love it.

I guess there would be different subscription prices. It could be something like that :

- 10$ for the 2000-2010's live
- 20$ for the 1990's concerts
- 30$ for the 1980's concerts in low-rez
- 50$ for the aftershows.

gotta say, I'm with Bart on this one. I'd love for it to be true but it's just unrealistic at the estate & labels' current pace.

But people like Bart, and maybe you - I don't know, is that none of us are running an estate of a mega star. We are basing our opinions on our perception of things. We're not in the mix with decisions and plans.

Prince fans are spoiled (whatshisname's not a Prince fan at all, anyway). We think everything should come out as fast as Prince recorded it. Just remaster, plan the artwork, arrange manfacturing, distribution, the sale campaign, arrange for shipping, etc. in a week or two. Sorry not sorry - life doesn't work that way. This ain't an Etsy or eBay shop. Dis a bid'ness.

There is logic to not oversaturing a market - and the market today is incredibly different than it was even 20 years ago when NPGMC was around. Even whatshisname talks about how small a fanbase there is, yet he and folks like him think everyone should be able to purchase $400 sets every 2 or 3 months.

Well, bully for him for having that kind of job. Most don't. Most people have a spouse or S.O., children, mortgages, car payments, insurance, etc. The estate knows that. They also know it takes time to move merchandise from inception to delivery and beyond. They can't bombard people with stuff every 3 months.

SOTT was huge, and that's probably why it was the only release that year (unless Sony Legacy did something... I don't keep up w/ the purple vinyl stuff).

I mean, forget the supply line problems that have even plagued the George Michael estate (one of their big releases has been pushed to 2022 because of that). They should just make it happen, according to whatshisname. He may read the whole internet and consider himself an expert, but the fact is he isn't - none of us are. But basic business practices seem like a logical understanding. Maybe not, for some.

So whatever "pace" folks think the estate should release stuff is likely not well-informed. And that's not because people are stupid or anything. They're just ignorant of the inner workings of the estate.

Fans already bitch that things are a "money grab," so if they release 3 or 4 SDE's a year, fans would still bitch that it's a money grab.

It's not unreasonable to want it, it is unreasonable to expect it at an unreasonable pace.

Now we wait on whatshisname to come through and rebutt everything cuz he's read the internet and knows everything. lol lol

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

live.brucespringsteen.net--a part of the nugs.net live recording distribution network lauched by a Mr. Brad Serling, my intial research finds (https://api.nugs.net/about).

>

It would be interesting to hear how nugs.net structures their deals with the artists and to discover whether the Prince Estate and its corporate collaboraters would be interested to enter a live recordings distribution deal with that company.

>

Such a development could possibly increase the buying market among Prince's 80s-career-loving fans while simultaneously offering a platform for Prince's broader-career recordings to be appreciated by his fans of wider-ranging tastes, alike.

>

Nice idea, dm3857!

Bruce Springsteen’s website is The Model.

But with prince it could be even more amazing as he has such an incredible wealth of vault material.

Every concert, sound check, after show and jam session…mixed and remastered…released online for download and for an additional price each show pressed in limited edition vinyl.

That way, the shows you were at, or the legendary ones, you could own in vinyl.
