RODSERLING

We already know the tracklist of the original album, you know...

But yeah, it will be something like that, with alternate mixes of the original albums.

I think some of those outtakes are more associated with Graffiti Bridge than D&P. I hope there are some nice surprises because that outtakes list is pretty dreadful, save for a handful of tracks.

Aside from "Player" in good quality, my wishlist for this is "I hear your voice" and "Allegiance." Hoping they're not being saved for a future Originals

Looking for that live shit and that's it. Outtakes from this era don't hit as much as others. Strange because I'm interested in outtakes from the GB/Batman Era and even Love Symbol, but D&P not so much. All that to say........how much dough they chargin?

"Call The Law" will be included somehow (as it was the B-side to "Money Don't Matter 2 Night"), and I wouldn't put it past the estate to include the album "x-cerpt" sampler that was on the B-side of the "Diamonds & Pearls" single. They will also include the single edits. Not sure how that will work with the Gett Off and Cream maxi-singles but I imagine it will all be included somehow.

If D&P SDE is released, and even if it is next year, I really hope we get to hear a lot of interviews from Sonny Thompson, Michael Bland and Levi Seacer Jnr. I think they deserve a bit of time in the spotlight and I’d hope be enlightening about this era, humble about their contributions and provide a great insight into the recording process.
There may or may not be something coming!

Agreed. I love all the interviews with Peggy Leonard and Susan Rogers and the Revolution but I'd really like to hear from other people/other eras. There's so much we haven't heard about Prince in the 90s and beyond.

From Purple Current (The Current):

Greetings Friends,

Friday, October 1, marks the 30-year anniversary of the release of Prince and the New Power Generation’s Diamonds and Pearls. I’m really excited to share a conversation with NPG drummer Michael Bland and keyboardist Tommy Barbarella. Growing up as an aspiring Twin Cities musician, these two were the gold standard. Every gig they were on was a lesson. Their time with NPG is the stuff of legend, and it all starts with Diamonds and Pearls’ title track.

Michael and Tommy will be on the Purple Hour with me at noon and 7 p.m. CDT on Friday, October 1, and we’ll hear tracks from Diamonds and Pearls. We’ll also be sharing the conversation digitally. I can’t wait to celebrate this record with you, and to share conversation with two individuals at the center of its creation.

– Sean

I would hope there is a better selection of outtakes. I'm sad that we probably wouldn't get the Martika shit since... originals or whatever.

I want clear copies of Don't Say U Love Me and Spirit. And also U. And Funky. And I Hear Your Voice.

Hey - remember when SOTT SDE came out & you fuckers couldn't understand how you'd never heard of half of the vault trax! ...the arrognace & self importance is never ending.

IF SDE is forthcoming I fully expect a tonne of NPG tracks that you never knew existed.

We'd heard of almost all of the outtakes on SOTT SDE. We hadn't heard them all, but we knew of their existence.

Which would be crazy since that was the original album title for D&P.

But they hadn't surfaced on boots even in insider networks. Certainly closer to the official release, things leaked.

In many cases, only the titles were known.

So, what's the argument here again? There's "we only know the title" examples in Soladeo's speculative list too. And the list of songs above... half of those had leaked, a quarter we knew only a title, and a quarter we could guess existed because he did guide vocals for everything.

Yep - the only completely unknown track was "It B's Like That Sometimes".
