The second, self-titled album I never really got into.

Some good songs, but the overall impression of the album is just too bland for me. I definitely prefer "For You" over it.

Of course, being a fan, I've listened to it many, many times over the years and I know the songs all the way through.

After listening to Controversy-era concerts, the second album (and Dirty Mind) do seem a little "flat". Those songs became fierce live, too thin on record. A remix might help, but that strays into "not Prince's intent" territory.

As a album everybody seems to love, for me Dirty Mind still leaves me cold.

Rave. Of the classic ‘80s albums, Parade. Great songs, but I just don’t feel a compulsive need to listen to it a lot, unless I’m listening to the entire albums of that period chronologically.

you just opened up a discussion. I wish he had more full band songs on the 2nd album, even though I like a lot of the music on that. I think it would have made a difference, maybe brought some muscle to the album.

But the discussion, I'm looking at outtakes and see/listening to what could have made that one stronger

Of4s gold is to me his finest work! Someone else said this to me and I rejigged the order of tracks, see if you can get into it beginning with endorphin machine and without the segues?

Rave is hard to get into. Some lovely tracks, TGRES, Tangerine, but it doesn't float my boat

1999 I just don't get on with and it's a good album I know

2010 is blah and never did it for me

For you and Prince I like but I never go out my way for
Batman is the same

Goldzigga.... Mmm I like one track. That's it.

Atwiad - I wish it was purple rain 2 so I always feel unmotivated to play it then when I do I tbink oh I love this

Prince... never really grabbed me, like someone else said, it was a bit too bland compared to the albums it was sandwiched between. I have come to appreciate it in recent years more, I don't know if I just found the cover off-putting? I recently saw a Donna Summer album cover that was very similar...

The only other album (if you can even call it that) that I find truly boring/unlistenable is Xpectation. N.E.W.S. i like, but Xpectation is a snooze-fest to me.

Dirty Mind is in my top 5. It's rawness is what makes that album so cool,

Besides 7 & and God Created Woman, its an overblown mess. Never been a fan, and its the low-point of my Prince fandom. I am shocked people are saying Dirty Mind, Controversy, or Parade..or really anything from his golden 80s period.

To be honest, I will listen to all of his albums but if I really had to choose, I would say the 1st and 2nd albums.

Planet Earth.
I never got to put an attentive listening to it.
I always did some other things while listening to it, really a boring album, without personality.
