Prince's greatest 10 year period? has to be 1978 too 1988!pure brillance and creativity .....after that he was chasing trends and being a Vegas Lounge act. and dont forget all the awful elevator music he put out. What say u or am I correct as usual?

I personally love D&P and Batman so that shifted that golden age a couple of years to make sure they got included in there for me too

- You said it. Nothing after 1990 ever could touch a fraction of the previous first decade. And let's be honest, that goes for most artists out there. Most mainstream artists are extremely good and creative when they are young. Sure here and there is an artists who is different but it's rather rare. One can't say that The Rainbow Children or 3121 or even Gold are better than anything he released in that famous first decade. In my humble opinion, but i'm not alone. -

Actually somebody CAN say that and guess what? It can be true cause what I think will always trump what you or anybody else says lol who tf are you? Just because a majority believes something doesn’t make it a fact. 1, ask yourself why y’all think that and 2, nazi’s once thought anybody that wasn’t like them didn’t deserve to live so I mean….

I love people who diss Batman and Graffiti Bridge, it exposes their lack of intelligence. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

I love his post 88 stuff too...but these years are perfection and the reason I am such a fan.

This is more interesting than I thought at first. The automatic response is 78-88, but really, you have to compare albums. Would I rather listen to For You or Batman? Prince or Graffiti Bridge? Dirty Mind or Diamonds & Pearls? Controversy or o(+>? And what you would rather listen to is, I think, the most honest assessment. Going by that, I'd have to say 82-92. Prince, Dirty Mind and Controversy are huge. You could argue they are objectively better, but I enjoy the later albums more. Of course, choosing Gold over Purple Rain is insane. No offense. (I was gonna nitpick and say everyone is choosing 11 year periods, but Prince's bye years of 1983 and 1993 fix that.)

Going strictly by the original question of the greatest 10 years, I'd say 80-90.

For me, nothing on For You or Prince or Batman reaches the highs of We Can Funk & Joy in Repetition. I also love Elephants & Flowers, and most of the rest of the album is solid.
