Oh lord. I'm not counting chords when I'm listening to music. Not that I could. I'm feeling it! If you can't feel Joy, well that's your loss.

I think there's more emotion in Prince's long, long guitar solo in Joy in Repetition than in most musicians' entire recorded output.

You said it.

Nothing after 1990 ever could touch a fraction of the previous first decade.

And let's be honest, that goes for most artists out there.

Most mainstream artists are extremely good and creative when they are young.

Sure here and there is an artists who is different but it's rather rare.

One can't say that The Rainbow Children or 3121 or even Gold are better than anything he released in that famous first decade.

In my humble opinion, but i'm not alone.

Sorry, but these bolded parts are a whole lot of nonsense.

'Street cred'? lol What the f are you talkin' about?

'Cool' or 'Uncool' - these things really exist for you? Not just 'what you like' or 'what you don't like'?

Too bad.

Prince made some amazing music in every decade he was working. Sad you missed out on it.

Actually somebody CAN say that and guess what? It can be true cause what I think will always trump what you or anybody else says lol. who tf are you? Just because a majority believes something doesn’t make it a fact. 1, ask yourself why y’all think that and 2, nazi’s once thought anybody that wasn’t like them didn’t deserve to live so I mean….

-

Sorry, but both your remarks are complete irrelevant.

And please, never mess (even not for fun) or compare anything to the horrible word 'nazzi'. (very out of place. We all lost people. So it's not a word to 'play' around with on a Prince forum. Sorry for that.)

-

But, true, everyone has his own love for a Prince era, which apparently is very sensetive to some.

Peace though. smile

1979-1988 (his greatest 10 year period)

1994-1995 (not 10 years I know) Come, Exodus, The Gold Experience

the rest it is a mixed bag, I really like The Rainbow Children and HitnRun phase 2 as a whole album and some individual songs on other albums

That's 11 years.

Thank you for knowing what a 10-year span actually looks like.

And I agree.

It's a good album but not great.Especialy when compared to Parade or SOTT.
The b sides were stronger than most of the album cuts

ATWIAD truely is one of his best daring album.

I absolutely love it from start to finish.

There is not one other alubm by Prince that has that 'daring/fuck you mentality' element.

He did what he wanted to do.

All songs are great.

The album may be messy assembled, but still i love it so much.

Either you get it or you don't.

The edgyness/weirdness directions were back in most tracks. Brand new edges in search of something else. Certainly after the popular poppy Purple Rain album.

1984-1994 so it includes the Purple Rain and the Gold era (both are epic to me).

I will never understand how many ppl like the 1978-1979 era that much, but i respect it.

I'm amazed at how many people here can't count to ten even after it was pointed out to them.

Anyway, my choice is the obvious 1979-1988 period although I've been playing For You much more than Prince lately.

I'm torn between 1978-1988 and 1979-1989.

The first album is not that strong, but launched his career.
Batman is a step down from Lovesexy, but was a huge career boost for him.
