- What you thought is what you heard/read. Yes there are a dozen very big (thus cheaper) plants - like those 10 mentioned by you. meaning these are more often used for huge orders, thus often ocupied. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

A person asked on Twitter: "So does that mean the worldwide release of the superdeluxe is changed to August or just for people in Japan?"
So which is it? | |

There are not 800 vinyl plants in the world, and certainly not 10. The real number is close to 100, many of them relatively new. (10 years old or younger) This number was confirmed in a video conference for us in the record industry earlier this month. About 50 of them are in Europe, and I myself has used about 10 of them so far.
The big delay this year (and 2020) has been mostly caused by covid-related issues. The biggest US plants had to close down for a while, and all the major labels started pressing everything i Europe, mostly at Optimal (Germany), MPO (France) and GZ Media (Czeck Republic), immediately doubling the delivery times all over Europe.
There is also a shortage of various PVC types and packaging material, due to several factories having to shut down temporarily due to local covid outbreaks. This has caused major delays for everyone pressing vinyl, and some factories had a 9 month waiting time for a while. Many big box sets by HUGE artists have been delayed for a long time due to this, and as I mentioned in another thread here, I suspect this is what has happened to Crystal Ball.
There are currently three companies who produce new vinyl presses (in Canada, Germany and Sweden), in addition to GZ who manufacture their own in Czech Republic - but currently the demand for new presses are bigger than than they're able to supply.
The waiting time is starting to get shorter now, but it will take a long time before we can see "normal" delivery times of 2-3 months again.

The Japanese release I bought is just the CD and Blu-Ray, no delayed vinyl to include. Hopefully, that gets sent on time.

So I was right, at least in France it is postponed for next week Most of the stores didn't receive the SDE or even anything. Even on amazon the orders can't be posted on time. Fuck the estate policy of vinyl forcing sales .
