Extraloveable. There are other songs I want, possibly more than this one. But the others at least have a chance of an official release in the future.

This would have to be a single vinyl release or digital release. The song lyrics are extremely problematic and would destroy sales if it was a part of a bigger package.

I too love the groove in this song.

I disagree; I think there is a viable way to release Extraloveable without incurring the wrath of a whole bunch of people: Release a compilation album themed around Prince and the Moral Majority movement that would showcase his songwriting (released, in the vault, given to other artists and protégés, etc.) that were intentionally provocative and/or scandalous to make a political point about artistic expression and freedom of speech.

The rape lyric is not PC, nor acceptable in todays society. Packaging it with sexual songs-sends a confusing message that Rape is a kin to sex? Talking about sex or having it is one thing. Rape is an entirely different concept. Packaging it together with sexy racier lyrics doesn't work either.

Stand alone release is the only effective way that doesn't destroy a project or his brand.

guys look, this is a hot button issue, but i think it's ridiculous to imagine extraloveable or lust "destroying sales" or posthumously cancelling prince. you're vastly overestimating how many people will be listening to these sets in the first place, it would not have been a "massive shitstorm" as i have seen others theorize. at most one or two gossipy music sites would've done a quick and poorly researched article on it, maybe a couple people on twitter would've bragged that they're banning prince from their household. other than that, nothing would have happened i can nearly promise you that.

People like problematic "issues" and cancel culture to get click bait and to get on a soap box to get attention. Things can get out of hand-even in Prince world.

THIS!!!

I don't know . . . I think the negative buzz might've gotten some traction. We were right in the middle of the #MeToo movement, I think including those 2 tracks would have been tone deaf.

Then again . . . in the context of how/when they were recorded . . . would a simple disclaimer have been enough?

I still think the Estate should offer high-definition downloads of those 2 tracks for anyone who purchased the box sets. It's not too late to do so . . .

Agreed, but hell, we just need the properly mastered soundboard for that entire show.
When Electric Intercourse was released, my first reaction was: why "studio version" is mentioned? Because the Estate is aware that First Avenue is bootlegged (thanks for the soundboard circulating) or they're willing 2 release it?

The Estate sold the rights to First Avenue 1983 and the ability to make a documentary out of that and the rehearsal footage to Apple Music years ago.

No idea why it's still sitting on the shelf but it's been complete for a long time.

That might be true but this is an absolute fave of mine and I'd love to have this released through official channels, esp the 1985 version.

Has it been confirmed that the 1985 version IS the 1995 version? Im pretty sure I seen it mentioned on here that it was

I think so, but he also made another version in 1992. I've got filed away somewhere on my PC, but it's only the first verse and chorus, if I remember correctly. I don't know if that's the full version or just a snippet?
