The only way the Revolution would get in is by the influence of Wendy's father. No doubt it was instrumental to Wendy's career opportunities. He served as chairman and president of The Recording Academy

Wendy's father has been dead for some years.

Wendy and Lisa and the Revolution should absolutely be given any and all accolades. The hatred here for Prince's most famous, and arguably his best band is obnoxious. It makes it not fun to come to The Org. Always some overyly intense haters spouting off.

Lol........his absolute worst band.(not counting 3EG)

no Revolution members should be inducted...at all... i would vomit daily, knowing that Wendy Melvoin is in the RRHOF while Chaka Khan, Pat Benatar and Dionne Warwick arent.

.

ABBA got in the RRHOF before KISS finally did. You should have vomit at that point in time. lol

but at least KISS is in ...im more shocked and disappointed that Motley Crüe, Judas Priest, and Thin Lizzy arent in...there's always been a bias against Metal, Grundge, and HipHop acts, though.. so im not that surprised about ABBA who i didnt really like, but they did sell tons of records worldwide

Motley Crue will be in the RRHOF soon enough. At the moment, they are in the exact same role that KISS was in for years. The longer the Crue are not in there, the bigger the joke the RRHOF will become. And then the committee members will need to save their asses by finally have the Crue in.

That's right, arguably his best band. It really shouldn't be so triggering on a the Prince fan-site. I don't think I've spent a minute on the org trashing the Prince band versions I didn't like. And I've been on this site since it was black and purple.

in which way The Revolution is any worse than 3rd Eye or 1996-1999 NPG

As i can hear Bobby Z is a much better drummer than Hannah. i never seen Bobby miss the pocket ever.

Ok Ida is better on bass than Brown Mark, but she is better than all of Prince bass players except Sonny.

Dr Fink was the best and most underrated keyboard player in Prince band along with Barbarella.

Wendy was crap as a lead player but very good as a rhythm guitarist.

so how can anybody say The Revolution wa his weakest band.

They could go from punk new wave to soul and funk within a song so how is that his worst band?

Bro you are right it's not even close but in favour of Ida.check out her right hand when she does those super precise bass triplets. Brown Mark is very good but his right hand is much simplier, regarding the actual bass technique Ida was the best, regarding the sound and feel Sonny T.

Ida had the best right hand compared to all his bass players if we don't count Neon

As far as who I'd rather listen to in Prince's bands, Mark Brown wins hands down. Mark was exciting, espicially in those extended jams. Ida, is probably more precise, but as far as overall FIRE, Mark is it.

Mononeon is arguably 'better' than all of them, but as far as feel, and the way he fit into everything, Mark was goddamn ripping that shit! What Clyde Stubblefield was to James Brown's band Mark Brown was to Prince. A fucking throw down legend.

Definitely not his weakest but far from his best. They're just his most popular for many reasons; primarily because they were in the movie. Bobby can't fuck with Sheila E, Michael B or John Blackwell on his best day. He's the weakest link in the band. Miko Weaver is getting Wendy all the way out of here easily. Just listen to that Yokohama gig in 86. Miko's guitar is way up and playing most of the stuff and wendy is just embellishing. Ida would even destroy Brownmark and Sonny T is the originator so Mark don't want no smoke with him. The only people who's chops couldn't really be easily replaced are Lisa and Dr. Fink. Even then it comes down to can they improv. Prince himself said the Revolution wasn't good at that. So honestly, it really just comes down to preference unless you start naming examples.

Nostalgia aside, The SOTT/Lovesexy band and the first NPG along with the ONA NPG are his best bands. Period. Feel and chops.

I'd say she is lol for sure. In feel and technicality. She also had the privelege of playing all of his stuff not just the 78-86 material. So that also helps in her range

ive seen and heard Brownmark play and teach ALOT of the classic basslines from not only Prince, but other great bass players' notable R&B and Funk legendary basslines on his youtube channel...we gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, Fam.

To be fair, we are comparing a 24 year old man (PR era) to a woman who was a bass legend by the time she joined Prince. It would be like comparing Andre Cymone on the first tour to Meshell Ndegeocello. Make it make sense.

Btw if we're really gonna GO THERE.... My own personal favorite bass players in p's bands have always been Levi, Sonny, and Rhonda. May have benefited from the music he was playing at the time but that's just me. I don't really give a flying fuck about what a person's hands are doing if it doesn't rumble in my nutsack. The bass players I listed above all got to showcase some deep, nasty shit.

Anyway, yeah the Revolution is way overrated. Personally, the 87-88 band and 93-96 band killed it. Everything else, imo, is parking.

Gee, why would anyone, but the people who directly stand to profit in one way or another, care about something like this? For everyone else - all it does, is fill one's precious head with nonsense.

RJ i like Mark much more than Ida but beside guitar i play bass as well so trust me that Ida's right hand technique is much more advanced than Mark but i dig Mark better

Tab how caN Bobby Z b the weakest link when he never made a mistake,on the other side Wendy made countless mistakes everytime she played.Wendy was the weakest link in the band and it's obvious she was there because: she was good at eating Lisas pussy.b) her father was a very influential music figure.

Had the circumstances been better, The Revolution could have lasted at least 2 more Prince albums after the Parade-era. The catches?:

.

#1. Prince would have laid-off Bobby Z no matter what to make room for Shelia E. on drums.

.

#2. A full time horn section featuring Eric Leeds, Atlanta Bliss, and/or Eddle M. would have been added to the band line-up.

.

#3. Although Wendy Melvoin was/is stronger for the rock & folk sound, Miko Weaver was stronger for the rhythm & blues [r&b] sound, hence why Prince needed him either way.

,

All 3 points validate that need for the "Prince & The Counter-Revolution" idea for live show. Also, the Dream Factory would have the next album release instead of SOTT. Just imagine what could have been in 1986-88! nod hmmm

Why you think Wendy was better for rock? Miko is funky but he is a rocker as well, his distorted rhythm guitar on rockier songs was more rock than Wendy. i agree about everything else and Lovesexy band played the same arrangements as Parade tour band
