Biggest problem with having the pie sign on the pie in the video? That's not a pie, it's a fucking cake! What kind of pie you ever eaten that had icing on it?!?!?
I really like the animated parts of the video, I actually find them pretty moving, with Sananda and all his dead influences waving goodbye as the ship/shuttle takes off... I wish they had just used that animation style for the whole video, the rest is cheap and nasty and detracts massively from the song - particularly that totally unconvincing moment of Sananda standing in the empty room pretending to play the guitar.... euch.....
It's a shame, because the song is growing on me. This is the reason I generally hate music videos, they can really colour and/or taint the music itself.
I hope Sananda is well. He's a massive talent and briliiantly idiosyncratic artist who has had the balls to follow his own path, come what may.... Not everything he's released since going indie has been worthy of him, but there's almost always something interesting going on in his music and/or at some point on his albums. This might be my favourite line I've ever read on the Org.

I've been thinking the same thing! I am a really big fan, but his recent albums are almost unlistenable to me. This latest release seems to have some decent tracks, but hard to get through it. I'm always hoping he'll come out with a great rock album.

I didn't follow him but his recent comments about he and Prince being from the same spiritual source, that they were astral twins, etc. was somewhat off-putting to me. Too self-referential. [Edited 3/24/21 22:40pm]

- production sounds like a mess, and his voice sounds out of tune... or is it just me? - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Chas said: It's at 3:22 in the video, if you don't wanna sit through that horrible song. Phew. Thought I was alone. I used to like TTD. Saw him live back in the day. That song encapsulates what hell smells like. blah blah blah

I saw him live once too at the Kentish Town Forum in the early 2000s and, as much as I LOVE his work, it was truly a shitty concert, one of the worst I have ever been to. I walked out. He was behaving like the ultimate sex-fueled rock star; there was so much gyration and weird ballet dancing (if you can call it that). It was just all over the top. The band was nothing to speak of too.
I still listen to his albums often but jeez that was a bad concert. I know it's said often that Prince could have used another producer later on in his career (I don't necessarily subscribe to that idea) but if there is one artist who could use a second pair of ears, it's Terence Trent D'Arby.

Haha, thanks for taking that with a smile! In truth, no rudness was directed at you, more at the makers of the video.... clearly they meant to make the visual pun of have the 'pie' symbol on a pie, but then they went and made a cake for the video! I appreciate that the translation of the word may make it a moot point, but to me that was a rookie error in the video. Let's face it, the video isn't great, haha..... but I do really like those animated sequences.

Hey...cool...afterwards I thought about that and I came aross the same point...the gag in the video doesn't work ..real. And I also noticed the humor in your post... ...afterwards..
(goddamn that happens 2 often )
(Oh shit....and I thought that was a cool idea to steal and create a funny thing for birthdays..)

Kiddies--his verse of "pie in the sky" is an expression. A cake with a pi symbol is within the paremeters of the expression, no? It could be anything, really to serve as the pie of which he speaks--just sayin'.

This brings back memories! I saw him live when he supported Simply Red years ago, before his debut album was out! He was great and on the verge of being a big star in england. Mainly due to The music show The Tube and paula Yates, who was pushing him on the programme as the next big thing
