I wonder if they have remastered the trax. There's already 1 listing of this on ebay with photos, but I can't tell from the fine print if it contains remastered versions. This seems like such an odd exclusive 2 give 2 Tchibo alone, although The David Bowie Estate did an exclusive SPACE ODDITY coloured vinyl with Paul Smith boutiques last year, so I guess this type of deal is possible. Perhaps this is a hint that The Estate will release The Hits / B-sides as a 6-LP box set in the spring 4 Record Store Day...

I just tried to place an order 2 ship 2 Canada, and indeed it didn't work. Although I did see that they ship 2 anywhere in the EU. It's possible 2 pay with Paypal or credit card, and if U sign up 4 their email newsletter, U can save 10%. This is more the field of interest of Bart Vanhemelen. he often knows what the administrative and legal rules are.

Could it be the same reason as with the SOTT movie?

The fine print on the back of the album cover indicates it's exclusive to Tchibo, so it won't be 4 sale anywhere else in Germany. However, anyone in the EU can order it from the Tchibo website. This isn't that strange as The Estate has had 2 recent official and exclusive Prince covermount 45s on German magazines: Muzikexpress and Rolling Stone. Nevertheless, I'm guessing that the rest of the world will see a spring purple vinyl release of The Hits Part 1, The Hits Part 2, and The Hits / The B-sides. Fingers crossed the trax will be remastered.

Keyword = "guessing". My thinking is that it seems so random that The Estate would release The Hits Part 1 on purple vinyl in the EU only, especially when the project sold very well back in the 1990s and it would be a missed money-maker opportunity 2 not re-release the whole thing re-mastered on purple vinyl for the world. However, just because I'm speculating this is forthcoming doesn't mean that I want it! There are at least 50 other Prince projects of both unreleased material and remastered super deluxe editions that I would prefer. I think that the re-release of The Hits would be more appropriate in 2043, 2 celebrate its 50th Anniversary.

On that The Hits I and II are enough forgotten songs to leave aside,

and to add new ones.

And maybe add a few new 'hits'.

I'm sure there is enough unknown material available form his last two years.

This has me thinking. We've seen a few instances where there have been limited Prince releases ahead of more substantial ones.

ie.
* The 1999 single LP that was released for record store day, a year ahead on 1999 remastered.
* The Versace Experience RSD cassette, ahead of the wider vinyl and CD release
* The Sign O' The Times Picture disc was originally intended to be released ahead of the Super Deluxe, unfortunately this was derailed due to covid.

Now couple that with the fact that the 2018 Anthology collection (although digital only) was released by NPG records and Legacy, to mark the digital release of Prince's post 1995 catalogue.

Now consider that Legacy is going to be issued publishing rights to the bulk of Prince's pre-1995 catalogue in some regions. Maybe Legacy intend on starting the WB era re-issues with a vinyl release of The Hits / The B-Sides? This may require some co-ordination with WB as the set contains Purple Rain / Parade / Graffiti Bridge tracks, but I can still see this happening.
