Adore was epic. The whole show was wonderful. Bravo.

I've had this bootleg for years but I forgot how long It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night goes on for. That is one SERIOUSLY looooong jam. There are some gratuitous stage antics throughout the night from Prince but I guess NYE calls for that kind of thing. Great show overall. Thanks to the Estate for showing it.

That was unreal! I've seen clips of this before, and I used to have the bootleg on CD ROM, but maybe I never watched it because I was sitting there with my jaw on the floor the entire time. Such an interesting time in his life, too. He had just had his spiritual epiphany and decided to cancel the Black Album only a few weeks before. He started work on Lovesexy. He starts the show in his SOTT attire, and ends the night/starts the new year in his Lovesexy gear. So many moments! This is easily one of his best shows ever, certainly the best I've seen, in person or otherwise. This is a win for the Estate from me! "That's when stars collide. Incredible - so great to see this performance in this quality. And yeah, the transition from SOTT to Lovesexy right before your eyes is amazing to see.
Great work by the estate / WB for pulling together a genuinely exciting launch night when he's no longer with us and we're in the middle of pandemic!

Cat was adorable but Sheila was so amazingly hot back then, especially in those barely there outfits.

The perfect representation of his transition from SOTT to Lovesexy. I can't fuckin cope! 2 MUCH FUNK!

Pure blistering genius. Vocally, it captures Prince in amazing form also.

So fun...like everyone I love watching the transition from Sign to Lovesexy. It's there right before our eyes. Amazing. But the whole show was amazing. Loved whoever commented about the Walking Dead crowd...I said exactly the same thing. My husband said I would've already been escorted out if I was there for being a complete spastic, screaming like a lunatic. He's probably right.

The crowd wasn’t dead, you can see he’s feeding off of their energy. The audience volume is turned down in the mix. This wasn’t recorded for a release, so he often did this so he could hear the band better when watching it later. I guess they weren’t able to turn it up for the dvd because it really saps some of the energy from the concert. Still a great show though! U might not like the taste, but I'm still going to stick your face in this Funk

I love when Prince and Cat hit a move together. Best band ever for so many reasons. And didn’t he know it. “We da best!” "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Good point. I mentioned it towards the beginning of the show, but they definitely came to life as the show went on and Prince and the band are obviously having a blast up there.

Maybe the crowd is turned down but it's still strangely quiet. Even at the beginning when he's talking it sounds silent and when he finishes there is a gentle polite applause. No complaints, still a great show of course.

it's a small crowd. That paid $200 per person.. it's not a regular concert crowd. And there's not many of them. That makes for a different atmosphere. Kinda like an aftershow. The small club crowd also doesn't sound loud. Personally, I prefer the crowd to not be in the recording much. They get in the way. I love the Utrecht show as well, that's about as loud as a crowd should ever be, imo. Paisley Park is in your heart - Love Is Here!

A truly brilliant live band - superior to the Revolution in every respect.

This is pretty fucking great. Not what I expected either (in a good way). Good move for them to change it up so much from the movie. Anxious to play on it a proper sound system since my laptop is less than ideal. If I Was Your Girlfriend brought me to literal tears and reminded me of my ex wife. Jesus Christ that took me off guard. [Edited 9/25/20 8:36am]

I’d agree with most other artists, but master showmen like Prince, James Brown, etc they need the crowd noise heard with the way they interact with the crowd (all them chants Prince does sound awkward af when we don’t hear anyone chanting back)

Band is tight as hell and watching them follow Prince's queues is masterful.

My old reliable Blu-ray player doing a grand job of upscaling this. Looks way better than the youtube stream on my TV did last night anyway.

Been watching the concluding "Beautiful Night" jam of this on bootleg VHS for decades, and it is my absolute favorite live Prince performance. He is being so REAL, and I feel like this is the closest, that we will see, to what it was like working with him when he was not in public "Prince character". The music, the dances, the jokes, the mood... it's all so intense. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

This show solidified for me that The Revoution was Earth, Wind & Fire...and SOTT band was Parliament Funkadelic.
Both equal in music virtuosity, but one makes you do the gasface (in a good way) when you hear them jam. [Edited 9/25/20 10:52am] "You know, this is funky but I wish he'd play like he used to, old scragglyhead son of a...*smack* OOH!"
