Stunning performance, every minute. Miles and Prince... magical; loved it when Prince blew him a kiss. Amazing band, and band leader par excellence. Loved seeing Prince on guitar, drums, piano, dancing his ass off while conducting the band. Doesn't get any better.

I love this so much.

It's not my favourite band, or my favourite era, or my favourite setlist. But I love love love how close the cameras got for the whole show, it's so rare to capture all the nuances of a performance so clearly. I love how relaxed and jokey Prince was at this show as well. And goddamn, Cat was so great - she worked her ass off for those two hours with a big smile on her face, brought so much energy.

Can't help you with that info.

But his usual recordings of rehearsals, performances etc were on video.

Film would be either quite old skool or on special request (by Prince?) to get archival quality content.

This show aint gettin enough love.

I watched it Saturday and then immediately rewound it and watched it again.

I've watched 3 times over the weekend! This set it worth it alone for this show! Amazing.

Love how Eric Leeds and Matt Blistan can't take their eyes off Miles when he's on stage. (And apparently the band kept missing cues? but I can't see that)

Something was wrong with that cameo. Aside from "holy shit, it's Miles Davis", the end result was pretty scattershot and underwhelming overall. I chalked it up to Miles maybe being on junk or something but, regardless, if you just heard the audio and had no idea Davis was onstage, you'd never claim you heard something incredible or game changing in the show.

Probably quite the opposite if we're being honest.

I suppose the band being in awe could be an explanation but, regardless, it was hardly a show stopper aside from Miles' simply being there and his sheer presence on stage.

Many of the aftershows, rehearsals and possibly some of the main shows were actually captured on film during 1988 for a one time planned movie documentary. You can see cans of film on the shelves of the upstairs video vault in Paisley that the police took pictures of.

Hope to one day see all that material get released in some fashion on day. A 4K disc would be nice.

Yeah, Miles knew exactly what to do with this performance. It is just a funk jam in D, Miles rips on that stuff in his sleep lol, I just took this as just a fun little cameo where Miles instead of being showboaty was grooving and adding some cool melodic lines to it all

Yeah, it was fun. Nothing earth-shattering. Prince was definitely intimidated at the beginning and then relaxed a little. Miles was clean in 1987 as far as I remember, so, no, he was not "on junk". He looks definitely like Miles to me. Eric and Matt were clearly happy to be part of that moment.

It's easier to play minus shoes than it is to play in heels, so I guess she was taking it easy that night.

I like the story about how Miles Davis said, "That little mother fucker ambushed me" in regards to Prince's hand signals and musical queues to the band that Miles knew nothing about. If you look at the performance again through the lens of that quote Miles looks annoyed and frustrated at times. Prince pulled that same shit on Sting when Sting sat in on bass at some aftershow.
