I called Amazon a few minutes ago about this.
I have ordered from Amazon since day one and never had a problem until the 1999 Deluxe. Now they said it wouldn't be shipped until the 29th but YouTube videos will be all over the place with people unboxing this.
Last time I'm buying from them.

Oh well....if there’s a delay,at least I can listen to it on Spotify until my copy arrives. But still,it would be nice to receive it on the release date, especially considering the high price we’re paying for it.

It's not really the sense of my remark, because I'd assume the manufacturing cost of an individual CD must be less than a dollar. Clearly, the CD itself is not what you pay for when you pay for CDs. It's just that, well, IDK, if it fits one one CD why put it on 2. I wouldn't put CB98 on 2 CDs as some have suggested because it'd mean cutting CD2 in the middle and this isn't cool. But in that case either you make 4 CD's to reproduce the LP experience, or one CD. Again, it's not important, I'm just wondering. The 2 CD thing is probably just because that is how the original album was presented when it was released back in the day on CD and for continuity purposes did it the same way. I can't think of any examples where there was a double album released on CD later released in a disk layout that wasn't verbatim to the original (with the exception of bonus tracks tacked onto the end of disk 2)

I'm so excited for this I enjoyed the 1999 SD but I've always been looking forward to them doing this specific album. I feel like I'll be revisiting every part of this project whether it's the remastered album, extended edits, vault material or the dvd. Also the book looks pretty great too. . Some thoughts on released singles: Yes to both Witness's except #2 gets the most listens Cosmic Day peeved me at first but it's catchy and the guitar solos are fantastic.

Is there gonna be a Parade Deluxe?? Will they actually release a Dream Factory or Crystal Ball in the future?? I just hope they have these planned for any future release and they’re not totally off the table...

Remasters of Dream Factory, Movie Star and the rest from 98 Crystal Ball Unfortunately your best option is to open up your favourite sound editing software (and if you don't have any Audacity is free) and turn those suckers down. Old Friends 4 Sale Parade Super Deluxe

girl o my dreams, cant stop, we can funk, data bank, old friends for sale, movie star, will prob go on the parade SDE. they are really SOTT era tracks, but could be included as a kind of 'last songs the revolution did together' package. who knows. seeing as wonderful ass which most people thought of as a SOTT era song went on the purple rain DE, this seems most likely. im sure there would be a parade SDE.

True. But the fans will never be 100% satisfied until they release Extraloveable and Lust U Always... I hate to be that guy that keeps bringing that up, but when i think of ‘satisfied,’ that’ll do it. If they actually ever care about ‘the completionists’ instead of using that term as a talking point to explain their questionable decisions and then throwing that term out the window whenever they think they need to save their asses

Fans were never satisfied when Prince was alive and they won't be today. The one common denominator of the Prince fan community is their insaitable desire for more material. If the Estate can begin to understand hardcore Prince fans as a market and orient products and services to them (a new subscriber NPGMC style service, for example), then they'll make more of a sustainable income and monetise the huge percentage of vault material than is not from the 80s and doesn't involve Wendy & Lisa.

I don't wish to take the subject off topic, but you are absolutely right. I can't believe more people weren't upset at the reality that two of Prince's studio recordings have been memory holed. Having said that, I'll stop there for fear of peeling off that particular scab off again.

I just hope they have these planned for any future release and they’re not totally off the table... Girl/Stop/Funk and Databank will end up of Graffiti Bridge I think. The Dream Factory musical and The Dawn musical I think both evolved into Graffiti Bridge. They’ll be at home with an early version of Question of U, and the lone drum intro of Joy. Splash, and Old Friends are both outside of what Howe said the SOTT SDE covered. They both can be on the Parade SDE, which WB retains the rights to release. Crystal Ball, Dream factory, movie star, the slight alt mixes of ICNTTPOYM can be released on full release of Dream Factory/CB/Camille I think they’ve got it all mapped out to maximize the materials earning potential. i feel like there was something in that interview that sounded like there is more to the wally story than we are being told and if so then perhaps it is mapped out for future projects with some of the obvious choices that have been excluded .. i dont care for vinyl but even i would be tempted with a crystal ball vinyl set with the original seagues .. or the flesh .. the original wally as a stand alone single would get me ... or maybe this really is the best they could find and everything else is non existant for whatever reasons .. i like to think they are still holding out some stuff to keep us coming back for more

i have no doubt that Howe lied about "not having found" the wally #1 and in some years they're going to make a massive deal about it and pretend they found the cassette tape, along with some crazy story of biblical proportions [Edited 9/18/20 13:06pm]

If the super deluxe sells real well, that is an incredible metric for them to want to release a Crystal Ball or Dream Factory set some day. The kind of person who is going to pay $150 to $300 for a SDE is definitely an addict who would buy those.
i will say, having created a playlist of DF and CB, we really do still need those as their own mastered projects. The Nevaeh on the SDE is most certainly not the one intended for DF, and the missing segues between Rebirth/Sunshine and The Ball/Joy, not to mention the subtle additions to Movie Star, among others, all make me feel Prince put a lot of thought into the flow of these epic works. That's why I'm treating the SDE vault discs as their own experiences on their own, which are seriously satisfying as is. So, no complaints, but someday, it will be a joy to experience a mastered CB and DF.

Wait, so are we completely disregarding Sewzan Rawjerz proclamation that the first version was destroyed?!?! So now she's a liar too? Wondering why we can't ever just believe shit when credible people who were there say it???

hasn't she gone back and forth on if there was a cassette mixdown made prior to the destruction of the multis
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I have little to no trust in Mr. Howe's word since he's been caught lying to us on several occasions, but I fail to understand the kind of reasoning that leads someone to assume there's a lie when there is in fact no evidence of a lie. There could be a lie, but why should the default reasoning be to assume there is one? As for Sewzan Rawjerz and the cassette mixdown, I'm totally confused when it comes to what did or did not happen.

while i would love releases of DF and CB, i cant see the point at this point. people wouldnt buy it for anything other than the packaging, and as CB never had official artwork, and DF only had tentative art, it would be a made up release. plus, so many of the songs are just the same as on the proper SOTT album, so there would be little point. nevr mind that most of those unreleased songs are now on the SOTT SDE.
i would like the camille album though - it would be cheap to produce as its a single disc album. and it has more of a coherent aesthetic/theme/sound to it too, compared to the other releases. never been sure if it had artwork though.
