Prince was not strict as a band leader at the end ? i was listening to 2015 Louisville recording and during the song 1999 i noticed that keyboard player dont know how to play 1999 synth riff. Keyboardist in question was Josh .In the past Prince was fining his band members for every single mistake, but in 2015 you hear Prince perform his big hit song with a synth riff played incorrect. Did Prince loosen up at the end regarding his tight band leadership?

yes he got soft and complacent in old age because he had lost his fire..it happens to everyone...he was just cashing in on the million dollar shows and thats ok . he deserved it!

Exactly. He didn’t need to prove himself at that point. He basically just partied on stage with everyone and made his money

Maybe back when he played with The Revolution and the New Power Generation he was harder on them because he had higher expectations? But in later years the musicians he played with were pretty much playing to the best of their ability so there'd be no point in him fining them because they wouldn't get any better. Or, as has been said, maybe he just mellowed out in his old age and didn't want to be a prick to people who were just trying their best for him?

He was also trying new arrangements around that time with the older hits and using bands knowing not everyone in the group could play the music and he gave into that presumably to give them space to make something within their limitations.

I find out more and more, that as you age, things that used to be a big deal to you, aren't that much of big deal anymore, maybe Prince was at that point in his life as well.

That fine thing is a joke, it has been confirmed by Eric Leeds and Susan Rogers, The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

As long as he saw the crowd smiling, dancing, having a good time and singing along, that's probably all that mattered to him.

Prince knew the skill level of 3EG. I'll leave it at that. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

Wait...people think he was going to fine Joshua Welton for getting a keyboard riff wrong? Paisley Park is in your heart

. Wasn't that the same guy that fumbled on the Purple Rain remaster? Overseen by Prince yes, but still a disaster. I see a trend here. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Yes, and Mayte has said he fined her for gaining weight. Plenty of people have said they were fined.

seriously?....I saw P's flashes of anger on his final UK tour with 3rd eye girl - actually looked him in the eye once - horrendous! Complacent ? - is the biggest BS line ever in P world. He kicked Hannah's ass in front of 20k fans for fucking up the lead into Contoversey , I saw him physically throw his guitar at the tech in Leeds [the look on Ps' face was terryfying btw!]
Don't forget, in his latter years itw as rather clear & obvious that he was taking on the role of being a mentor/teacher to the next generation too. Note, he also did mellow...but his standards didn't slip.

. It's an unonscious process at first. See the band issues. See the setlists. See the PR remaster. See his health and death. See the lack of a will or any other arrangement or construct to facilitate the heir situation. It is multidimensional, where his genius was in one specific area. The people around him did not compensate his shortcomings well enough. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

he was hard on who he could be hard on... some didnt need it and ignored it, and some werent built for it, and were replaced, or left... BrownMark is real open when talking about Prince's sometimes abusive leadership tactics... Andre too.. Morris Day too.. The Doctor too...quite a few of them wanted to whoop his ass but career interests (or Big Chick or Jellybean) stopped them...im sure as he got older and wiser he became less confrontational...we all do...or should.

Carmen Electra said in a late 90's interview that P made her cry when he told her she was gaining weight.

Personally, I think that no matter what level of musical 'experts' he surrounded himself with or shared the stage with, it was always him that we came to see at the shows, and he knew it. I loved The Revolution and NPG, but it was always a revolving door for singers/musicians when it came to the bands. I don't think that he became any softer on the members as he aged. He continued to fine them when they screwed up, at least up until 3rdeyegirl. I didn't pay much attention to 3rd when he formed that band because it was mostly a heavy guitar sound and I didn't care much for it.

I remember reading about her reaction to the "I Hate U" song, but I do recall reading about the weight comment. I remember thinking; "What kind of weight problem did he see with her?"

her booty was way too big ..it was rediculous

word...all of P's ladies and proteges were tiny ...Mayte and Carmen Electra were already skinny...i dont get it.....only woman P ever rode with that may have needed to lose some weight, was Rosie Gaines...and she was still sexier than alot of the women he dated, or the different female proteges and female bandmembers, in his different crews over the years...
