I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before, BUT: where the hell is the Beautiful Night encore jam with Miles in the Amazon listings? On the DVD I mean?

Do you know what ..thats too much money. Sorry but I was expecting 70 or 80 for the Cd but 145.... Not sure I can justify spending that. Feel a little exploited...maybe its just for now

Like most things on Amazon the price for this will fluctuate and Amazon will charge the cheapest price that it has been when they ship it

Price will never fluctuate rhat much.

I wonder the same, because that would be a seriously massive omission in case it's actually not included. Perhaps that's one of the couple of issues that's "going to piss fans off" according the comment from Mathieu Bitton?

And why would you choose that particular concert for the DVD and omit the unique selling point? That encore IS the gig! eek

It's listed on the Amazon page for the LP box set – it's missing from the CD box page (but it's obviously just a listing error).

Was it P's way of saying goodbye to the material, playing it one last time for good old time's sake? Was it his way to allow local crowds to see the tour? I guess we can only theorize but if anyone knows anything, please share.

You haven't seen or heard the bootleg of the New Years Benefit Show? It's that last track that is LEGENDARY.

Yeah I have, and I know, but that don't explain the setlist.

He didn't go on tour with that show in the USA, so it was something special for the audience I guess.
And I also consider it a "ready for the next move"-setlist in a way.
From "Erotic City" to "Jack U Off" feels to me like a glimpse into the making of the Lovesexy-Tour-setlist.

Fair enough.

Not sure about Computer Blue but Erotic City has a small glitch at the start. Purple Rain Deluxe was missing 4 edits of Purple Rain, and 1999 Deluxe was missing the mono version of Delirious. The last one is quite annoying since it contained literally every other version of every song released on the singles. Not sure about Possessed.

What are the sound glitches on Computer Blue and Erotic City?

The glitch on the long cut of Erotic City is at the beginning and so brutal you can't miss it. The one on CB is on a channel only and more discreet. Might have been on the cassette they used in which case there was little they could do, but EC is unexcusable.

.

Whats missing from the Purple Rain b-sides/mixes CD

At the very least 4 other single edits of Purple Rain and the audio from the 3 live music videos (including 2 different edits of IWD4U) as well as the audio from the Let's Go Crazy music video (of which 2 versions may exist but this remain unconfirmed). The above was absolutely essential, what follows is technically a little more complicated so I didn't expect them to do it, but it could happen in a future rerelease:

(If you really want to go completist all the way:

This is debatable but technically the first version of 4 The Tears In Your Eyes was released at the very end of the PR era (i.e. before the release of ATWIAD), so I'd have included it (but it can also be considered more appropriate for ATWIAD Deluxe, I'll give you that, and obviously that was their reasoning).

There might be rights issues with WB film (at least that's what the absence of it from the YT channel suggests), but there appears to be several different edits of the PR MV (it's something we haven't been able to solve entirely yet) that could have been included in audio and/or video.

There might also be rights issues involved but clean audio and/or video copies of the 2 1985 TV performances would have been a cool bonus (and I'm sure the rights issues could have been dealt with).

And finally, they could have included some extra music from the film (not the side projects but the Prince stuff) and/or try and dig-up some of the promo snippets of the PR tour sent to various TV channels at the time to promote the tour, but admitedly all the above necessitated access to the vault, which they didn't have yet, so let's just stick to the PR edits and MVs audio.

All the video material above as well as the WDC and PR MVs could also have been included on the DVD alongside the concert.)

.

Whats missing from the 1999 b-sides/mixes CD

They did a much better effort with that one, yet managed to leave off the 12'' edit of 1999 as well as the Delirious mono edit.

Now if you wanted to go all the way:

(This is more debatable and might also involve rights issues, but technically the 2 lip-synched TV performances are slightly alternate mixes because Bobby's live drums at least can be heard over the prerecorded track, so these could have been included.

The above and MVs could also have been added to the DVD as well, despite being on YT).

.

Why is Possessed mistitled on PR Deluxe?

They got the year wrong. There are, in fact, several other fuck-ups in the liner notes regarding recording dates, ou can read it all on PV: http://princevault.com/in...ain_Deluxe

.

Maybe I havent listened to them enough (or my ears are sensative enough) but any help appreciated......

Anytime wink And I could also have mentioned in my OP that according to the ingineers here, there seemed to be a pitch problem with the IFFY demo single as well (but I forgot about that one).

both boxes vinyl one and 9 cds/dvd will be the same size (32cm x 32cm) so that the unique 120-page booklet can be included. We will therefore be entitled to Jeff Katz's photos in maxi format, whether we buy the CD or LP box set.

Finally, for information, the LP box set should weigh in at about... 6 kilos.

Good.

I hope they got the pricing wrong and are fixing it.

The 1999 Super Deluxe was around £70. SOTT has 2 extra discs but is priced at £149.

That has to be wrong.

It is a step in the right direction, I'll might go for the CD box version this time – however, I guess I would still lose all the photos of the LP inner sleeves (and to me, those reproductions of the studio tape boxes are more important than, let's say, another dozen pics of P posing).

.
But what about those people who bought the CD version of '1999 SDE'? How will these two, entirelly different sized sets look on the shelf?
.

This is yet another example to show a total lack of planning that should've been done BEFORE they released Purple Rain Deluxe. They should've created standard guidelines, principles and strategy and schedule for a long-term release-program for the Vault. I can't see proof of any of these. It's all ad hoc decisions, total lack of strategy and planning. VERY disappointing and sad – it's certainly not what this unique artist's vast recorded legacy deserves.

it would also be nice if the digital edition came with the book in HD format.

i don't own a cd player anymore and my mac computer doesn't even have
a disc slot. so there's no way for me to listen to or rip the cd's.

also, i don't own a record player. i listen to all my music digitally.

i don't mind not having a physical release in my hands as long as i can get
everything in digital format, including the artwork and booklets etc.

wait, there IS no digital edition eek
..

Boy do I sure love pizza, even though it doesn't blow me and file my taxes and clean the kitty litter box too.

There seem to be photos on the official page (not live yet, thought), in case anyone wants to search.
