I was completely absorbed by them, and I really enjoyed Questlove's presentation - nevermind the odd hiccup here and there - I'll be forever grateful that this fan took the time to out this together for us to share and commemorate Prince's memory. | |

Thanks, Bart, I was not aware of this - now this is playing in the background in my homeoffice - really cool.
And gee, just remembered how cool a song the Madonna/Prince collab was - has aged well, me think imho

- ...exactly 100 % agree ! I even downloaded them through audacity, listening to them while i do my 3, 4 somethimes 5 hour 'covid-19' walks, runs, cycling... Heard them several time by now. Ah man. Supa candy ! - Questlove could make tons more DJ sets for all I care Like an all instrumental set, a guitar driven' set, a Camille set, a heavy funk set, an extended-parts only set, a sex 'n grind set, a religious set, a 80's only set, a movie set, a covers set, etc.... -

. It makes sense that he took the original (multitrack) recording and overdubbed his vocal track. Would be interesting to hear the multitrack of this, since if there is massive bleeding on all tracks except the vocal one, it would confirm this. . Amazing that an alternate version has leaked. You'd think that tracks like this (recorded in his own house!) would only exist in a final version, but I guess the vocal overdubs (if this is what happened) happened later and that this "original" take had been backed up on a cassette tape by then. © Bart Van Hemelen

I’m still listening to Questlove’s DJ sets and they’re super entertaining. Last night we were helping to DJ: selecting the song that would mix well with whatever he was playing. He alternated from IG, to YouTube, to Twitch taking requests. He miraculously played my request, an old school jam from Newcleus, lol. It was a lot of fun. The Beastie Boys set last week was fire but it’s already been taken down. Anyway, during Sunday night’s set, apparently feeling pressure because his girlfriend requested dancing music, he commented something like, ‘I’ve actually never been so nervous about coming through with my set, not even with the Prince fans...the Orgers.’ Lol | |

I was listening to Questlove again last night (Monday nights are request night and they're a lot of fun). He plays a little bit of everything but as always there are a lot of requests for Prince. He played an obscure live version of 'When U Were Mine'. Just when I was thinking I had never heard it before, he commented that he didn't think he had heard this version before, and he wondered out loud where it was from. Someone on the IG feed asked but I don't think Quest ever confirmed where it was from. It was a lot slower than the original version, I think because it was recorded that way, and also because Quest slowed it down even more. It sounded cool. He said he's not doing these live feeds anymore after this quarantine is over, but at least he's planning on keeping the Monday request nights for now. I always wanted to read his memoir and never got around to it. It's next on my list. | |

He also played the full orchestra version of "I Wonder U" (with vocals by Prince), unfortunately mixed with the drums from D'Angelo's "Africa" (which samples this song). "Don't need no Reefer. Don't need Cocaine. Purple Music does the same to my brain." |
