Romeoblu

Really enjoyed it. There was a point where he played a lot of hip hop with Prince samples in them and some interesting covers I had never heard of.

Looking forward to the live set.

Questlove’s first track tonight? “The Rock”. Prince’s first version of “Let’s Work” recorded in 1979.

Not sure what your talking about, 1st track was a Time track.

I enjoyed the Roots rehearsal of Its gonna be a beuatiful night, really funky & Bilial doing Sister was epic, video of thats on youtube by the way.

He also played Sheila E doing Erotic city w/ prince last nite in miami 1985.

According to prince vault P was offstage doing vocals for 50 min on these trax - Prince (off stage – vox)) (50 minutes): Shortberry Strawcake incl. Bodyheat (instrumental) / The Belle Of St. Mark / Oliver's House / Next Time Wipe The Lipsti...our Collar / Erotic City feat.Prince (singing off stage) / The Glamorous Life

Too cool, great set overall.

Did anyone else catch his shoutouts to Tyka, Mayte, Justin Timberlake, and Susannah Melvoin? It seems like they all tuned it at some point during the set.

Yeah, not sure about Timberlake, but the rest were there. Jimmy Jam got a shoutout too.

I'm convinced "My Name Is Bart" was a direct reference/tribute to our very own OP. Mmhm, you're out there nodding your head out there in agreement right now, Quest is Org privy, he knows when and where to pay homage. Well played, sirs.

This feels dfferent ....he's got a light show in the form of a coat with duck cufflinks, and the comments aren't entirely respectful and appreciative ....

But... music selection is on point....mixing is on point ... he's flipping a lot of demos and oddball versions into something nice.

More than worth listening to if anyone was on the fence.

👍🏻Lots of associates are on tonight. I’m loving these sets and the commentary from quest. Tomorrow and Sunday should be great, too.

Quest set was sweet. He’s a true respectful fan that has multiple levels of Prince knowledge, both inside and out. Last nights When Doves Cry got me off the couch and grooving. Almost like a hypnotic dance trance. These sets should be playing on all major news outlets. Loosen Americans right up! DO yOUR THANg DJ FUnkY CluBBER LANG!!!

I would guess the difference is Questlove is streaming a somewhat sanctioned thing and he's a known musician with actual ties to Prince on many levels, who people have interest in watching.

Plus he's doing this as a quarentine thing, so people feel less alone...and anyone who watched knows he's not just deejaying Prince favorites and rarities, he's giving a tribute, telling stories, commenting on it, cracking jokes...he's standing there for 4+ hours without breaks and it's very generous....

With Prince's family, band, ex's, etc. all signed on to listen with us....

Random dJ and fan mixes of Prince aren't that compelling at this point.
