The Revolution in Q's IG was a mixed blessing. Once they showed, it was all about 80-86. It's does hammer home the fact that there are hours upon hours upon days of material available. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Yeah I agree with some previous posters. Bittersweet. I am so grateful for Questlove to share his love of Prince's music and share it with us. That is really awesome and I am so grateful. But his talking and some of his rambling shout outs and random stories get in the way of the wonderful music. I wish he would seperate the music and his talking. That's what podcasts are 4. Again thankful and irritated at the same time. Still so glad he did this. Thank U.

Oh...I just found out, what the intro 4 the fourth show was (the one with the funny 'Our house'-Madness interpretation...later on they tried even the James Bond theme in this 'song'):
It's the Band improvisation in the rehearsal for 1st Avenue Benefit Concert in aid of the Minnesota Dance Theatre 8-3-83..... yes...the one when he recorded the originals for Purple Rain and Wendys debut

After these four sets. Why am I not permitted to call Prince, pound for pound, the greastest artist, this side of 1900? He's at 27 in Rolling Stones best artist list of all time. But why won't people let me make that statement? Why am I being ridiculed for liking Prince at all? Why are people outside this box saying he is the most overrated artist of all time? And I am not only talking about how much he sold. Just based on technical facts? Artistry? As an auteur? Why?

What I mean Pound for Pound is for example. Mike Tyson was gaining the headlines and notoriety in the 80's. But Sugar Ray Leonard was named boxer of the decade.

The Estate flagged the 2nd episode and not the others? I wonder why it's not longer accessible cause uhhh there is still 15+ plus hours that is still saved on the Youtube "You know, this is funky but I wish he'd play like he used to, old scragglyhead son of a...*smack* OOH!"

I think its youtube that flageed the episode not the estate. It works on algorithims so when he played Cream it was flagged [Edited 4/21/20 11:57am]

That Madhouse part was funny, with Prince imitating Popeye’s laugh. We heard a very playful, cheeky, and sometimes campy Prince in these sets. The 1983 1st ave. benefit concert is an incredible show!

I felt exactly the same way you did! It started to piss me off! He pretty much talked all through "Alexa de Paris" and his shout outs to everyone was working my last nerve too! Not to mention the occassional "SELECTER" he would randomly throw in there. I did enjoy his selection and I did appreciate the the tidbits of information, but do it before or after the song, not during it! I even commented on the chat board about him talking through all the songs, and I noticed the next day, he was a bit reserved in his commentary. I hope I had something to do with it! lol If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

- These marathon mixes sounded just as fresh and new in many ways (to me). It's the mixing of course. Like highlighting a loop, a sound, (re-)arrangements, playing with it. Like old school megamixes but in a much more intelligent, again fresh approach. His relaxed tireless guise and positive sloppyness (at least to me) instigated and clarified much renown music in a wide open way full of novelty and new interest. - Prince's slow jams 'and jazziness' like you say, also gained my interest again. Questlove truely listens with his musicians ear and professional knowledge, which I think is quite refreshing, very explanatory even. For example, he's telling a story on how Prince used a small tamborine cymbal, pitches and samples it so it becomes his new hi-hat sound. Also the story of them (Quest and The Roots etc) recording at Paisley Park for a week (Prince out of the house) and using the famous Linn-drum machine used for the 1999 recordings, to make the end part offor Commons ''Star *69'' etc. Other small stories, like "this must be Lisa" on this or that instrument, or "Susanah, is that you?", or the explanation of Brownmarks genius bass parts during extended live jams.. Wendy's guitar solos, some drumparts explained etc. Very very refreshing and musically claryfying. Even for non musicians like me. - I am kind of known to Questlove's fantastic madness for Prince. But somehow I rediscoverd him here and now just love him even more. - You know, they should give Questlove the proper ability to make studio remixes of Prince's music, release it and sell it ! I would be happy. Or let him do a live tribute show (with The Revolution and Prince' most known protegées? )) ), DJ-ing in front of a huge audience. Sort of a massive hours long live tribute gig. Now that could be a much proper & honest triubte (to me) than the one we have now. OK, some parts were doable, but most I found uninspiring. - I remember going to that '4U, A Symphonic Celebration' tribute (2017 ?) here in Brussels. It was so so so awefull. I left after 20 minutes. I hurted my ears and soul. That horrible tribute opened with a speech by Questlove. I never understood why he lend his voice and dedication to something loathing like that. So Prince unworthy in my humble opinion. I kinda lost track on him since that. (Also never understood why Clare Fischer's son Brent was part of this..) -

And here I thought it was saying "See you Later". Also thought he was using it as an audio watermark since he tended to throw in those voice samples during the unreleased songs also.
Did anyone think the extnded version he played of "Irresistable Bitch" was in fact a non-faded unreleased version or did he just loop the bridge again? I didn't hear that much of a difference except for maybe a new drum fill.

I swear. This is why people outside of this sheltered place think most P fans are an obnoxious, entitled bunch. "Train wreck blends"?? Seriously?? Holy FUCK some of you are beyond unappreciative and if it were me, I would have done what he threatened to do during night #2 and cut those talking shit the fuck off.
My goodness, what an utter embarassment. The man is obviously a true fan. Showing tons and tons of respect and love to Prince by taking time out of his life to host sets...FREE sets at that...for anyone who wanted to log on to enjoy. And instead of give him our thanks, we complain about an audio watermark (which ALL DJ's include in theiur sets) and what we perceive as sloppy transitions?? Fuck out of here with that shit...

I really enjoyed these sets, it's made me go back and re-listen to a lot of material, especially associated artists. I thought he did a great job and he clearly loves Prince's work as much as anyone on here. Brilliant. 3121... Don't U Wanna Come?
