It'll be a limited release so it won't flood the market, it won't step on SOTT deluxe's toes, hardcore fans will finally get a physical copy of it and it may even get some sales from casuals who want to support record store day.

Interesting. Well, the album didn't have any artwork finalized for it either. But I guess if people really really really need these previously released songs to appear together in an official capacity, rhen yeah. RSD would make sense.

People want previously-released songs thrown together in "alternate configurations" so bad in the Prince community. I've really never read anything like it in any other fanbase.

Is it because knowledge of his alternate configurations and aborted sequences is so rife in the community? Other artists there doesn't seem to be as much documentation to the different tracklisting phases all albums go through, hence maybe other fanbases not being so preoccupied with early drafts.

To me, I dunno, I want stuff I haven't heard, not stuff I can make myself shuffling my own collection around.
