Jesus Christ. This is the worst thread idea I’ve ever seen - and I’ve been coming here for nearly 20 years, so I seen a few shockers. I remember back in the day we would discuss cool stuff like, for example, how he dropped that awesome bass track from Partyman to emulate the part with his mouth. About how no-one else in the pop world would have the balls to do such thing and release it as a single. Or the talent. About how he wouldn’t even mention things like that, how he would make you find them yourself, wee Easter Eggs in the music for the real heads. This...is shit. Sorry, I’m not trolling, but up your game. And, for the record, it was a wig. Nothing against that, but it wasn’t an Afro - it was a wig.

This afro was obviously a wig.
It was terrible, it looked in a different way like the MJ's wigs in the 2000's

If it were a wig, it would've been picked out in a uniform fashion. It wasn't, so I doubt it was a wig.

I think the early afro was a wig but ultimately the afro was his real hair

because how do you find a wig that shows thinning spots?

Nope. Who would carry around black hair dye for a wig?
Besides, I checked with someone who knew.
Check the death photos. Good hairline, full hair in a cap.
The baldness gene is carried through the mother; Mattie's dad had a full head of hair.
Feeling a bit dirty for commenting on this.

As usual, you have zero evidence of any of anything and it's typical trolling by you. Even Prince and Kim Berry told the story of why he went back to an afro. Stop being so obtuse. It's very one-note of you at this point. Even Prince knew when to change his sound. Try taking the hint.

As a hairstylist of 25 years, I'll loudly announce you're even more off kilter. You don't get your hair patterns from your father. We used to hear that one tended to have their maternal grandfather's hair genetics. But it's still not directly from one's father.

Have a seat, or several.

I think he'd of left his hair in it's natural state, shorter or longer, maybe more coil defined but still unprocessed.

We’ve had this thread before I think. Nothing wrong with asking because I’ve wonder that too.
It’s hard to know what life would’ve been like, period, of Prince was still here.
But he seemed to he deep into his black roots at the end and all that went with them including his mention of the Woodstock stage on HNR Ph1, and the manner of his music in his last album he was making. He was sure entering a new period musically, and I think a garner of that last album could give some insight.
What would he have done with his hair after that?
I think the women he admired or hung out with often dictated that. An appropriate question might also be, what would his love life and/or muse life look like?

Also being natural in the black hair world is the norm now. So he might’ve moved onto something different within the decade.

Ummm,cool.

But nobody buys a wig to look like they're balding. An afro wig would be round. Prince's hair wasn't round. Anyone who has ever seen an afro knows it isn't scraggly like Prince's unless it's an old guy's afro.

I think a wig was used at times. Older Black people (usually women, and especially of a certain generation) will sometimes throw on a wig like a hat when they're having a bad hair day. Then again, there's no wigs in any of the police photos, unless they're hidden from view where the clothes racks are. That afro (wig or not) wasn't going anywhere. It was a timeless look (even retro) that fit where he was spiritually, and he could poof it up to hide a lot. He could have also gone the long straight wavy route again. He actually didn't change up that much, it just seemed like he did. I'm not sure why this thread is seen as any creepier than other discussions about his style.

He had hair dye with him. So I doubt he was wearing a wig. And yes I think they would’ve found at least one in his house.

My only problem with this thread. Y not talk about his fashion, hair, etc? It was all a part of the package. Yeah he's gone n there r no what ifs but still. But this has been beaten to death up here n it always disenigrates into wigs n whatnot. Meh.

I think he used a wig. When the light shone on it, it had an artificial look.

But, he wore hair-pieces periodically througout his career.

When he wore that pompadour 'do' in mid-2000's (pre-fro), there was a hairpiece involved to give it volume as his hair was noticeably thinning (on top), in his 30's.

There is no shame in this.

Everybody relax.

I’d like to think he’d be rocking (or shall I say funkin’) the salt & pepper hair.

I think the only hairstyles he hasn’t tried were dreads & completely bald.

Didn't know that about the pompadour. Any recollection where that info came from? Makes sense, he got some serious volume in some photo shoots around then, but pomps also allow you to disguise the problem spots. I just recall a spot where his part was, which is normal with age. A clip on hair extension layers sounds right too.
