Something someone said here resonated with me earlier while jamming 2 this n being elated to finally be free of holiday music. Yes Feel U Up is a step up n terms of sound QUALITY but that little synth solo/ flourish at like 3.5 minutes in is barely audible compared to boot versions. I mean it's there but I wanna feel that shit u know š. Damn near my favorite part. Only gripe. For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Prince chose to add the doubled up vocal. Isolate the right channel. There's really not the reverb you're suggesting.

No maybe about it - that's him and is why Michael Howe strongly believed it was originally intended for The Time.

Is it just me or are the vocal effects on Feel U Up much heavier than on the boot version? I mean the " under water" effect on the vocals starting halfway the track. I never really noticed that on the boot version and to be honest I think it's pretty annoying on the released version.

I made my own version of Vagina with a drum track and it sounds pretty damn good

You can definitely get rid of: Do Yourself A Favor Possessed Moonbeam Levels Don't let him fool ya No Call U Turn It Up Feel U Up Irresistible Bitch Delirious (full) Purple Music I would keep: Something in the Water (no fade in) If It'll Make U Happy (if you like the minimal lead vocal) Yah U Know (1986 mix) Teacher Teacher (1986 mix) [Edited 11/29/19 7:18am] Is the reason that you say we can get rid of these bootlegs because (A) the new released version is the same as the old bootleg version except for better sound quality or (B) the new released version is a different and better performance than the bootleg or (C) something else? . I've always assumed that the multitrack was required to produce that result. Yes, you can still hear the synth, very faintly, but I thought it was just "track bleeding" or something like that.

Basically what weāve been dreaming about for 30+ Years! So, weāve been exposed over the years to boot collections that have taken away a bit of the novelty. This is still awesome. Appreciate it! i's suggest adding an overkill of noise reduction as done on most boots will solve you're 'reverb' issue. It will disappear just as it did on most boots

it's on the former boot as well, just not so clearly audible as with the track in general on former boots. Just give it another try, it's there alright [Edited 12/1/19 14:59pm]

Yes . Um, yeah, so is it A, B, or C? Or if itās different reasons for different tracks, maybe you could assign A, B, or C to each one. I very much want to know, and my bootleg collection isnāt large enough or organized enough to figure it all out. And some of the readily available bootleg versions on line have been taken down recently. [Edited 12/1/19 16:47pm] "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

Purple Music and Feel U Up are slightly different mixes but better overall and pristine. The rest are definitive versions in CD quality.

LoveGalore said: Bold Generation has just floored me. An absolute killer track - I simply can't understand how it got left behind for so long. It is the most Funkadelic-sounding song he's ever done, in my opinion. I can't fathom why he would record overtop the 2" (according to Michael Howe) and I desperately hope a better source surfaces at some point. . Rearrange is great - slightly less catchy to me at first, but it grew quickly. It is not nearly as similar to Lady Cab Driver as the reviews suggested. While clearly he rearranged the song under a different premise, he didn't borrow any tracks from this demo in its recreation. Another stunning "Why did this get left behind?" moment. . In a similar vein, You're All I Want is great and the clear prototype for Horny Toad. While I think Horny Toad was more of a success, this track's production quality is immense. I could see it being put on HitNRun 3 and nobody batting an eye. . Great to hear Feel U Up and Irresistible Bitch in such great quality though Feel U Up is a head-scratcher. The fact his vocal is buried in the mix, the fact it is not a seamless transition between the two, and the fact the fidelity changes dramatically when it switches over. Michael Howe made it clear they were two independent songs from independent sources (ie. not tracked together on the 2"), but I would think they could've worked on these two a bit more. . Prince's choice to add the staccato-style vocal arrangement here (reminiscent of "Pop Life" etc) is a strange choice to me when comparing to the leaked snippet which is quite beautiful. At one point, the vocals sort of trip on each other because of this, so I find it a little distracting when wearing cans. It ends up puling my ears in opposite directions for sec. Other than that, brilliant and sincere song. Bold Generation and Rearrange both have a funkadelic vibe to me, just slightly different time periods of p-funk. The guitar in Rearrange reminds me of some p-funk solos. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

Iām loving the new to me songs and versions on this disc. Some thoughts and ranking: . . Rearrange . Love, love, love this track. 10/10. This is the best, most out front and powerful guitar solo work of his entire career of studio releases. It actually captures some of the vitality and strength of his live guitar solos that is almost entirely absent from his studio releases. Iām not entirely sold on some of the guitar feedback and distortion parts, but Iām still glad to hear them. Itās not exactly a brilliant composition, but the performance more than makes up for it. . . Bold Generation . Yes, yes. 10/10. Another strong performance. The composition is stronger than Rearrange, but I rank it just a little below Rearrange, probably because Iāve listened to the released NPG so this isnāt as new to me. In the middle just when I thought the song was about to drag, he hits us with some great, funky rhythm guitar. . . Vagina . Everything about this song is great except naming the title character āVaginaā is distracting and lessens the impact of an otherwise great song. Why not almost any other name? But the song rocks and the lyrics are cool otherwise. Itās almost an anthem, but not quite. 9/10 . . If Itāll Make U Happy . Total surprise to me to hear this lightly reggae influenced track. Lyrics could be a bit better, but itās extremely enjoyable. . . Those are the highlights for me. . I love a couple of the other songs, too, but theyāre not on repeat because I already have boots that are basically the same versions but with lesser sound quality. Seriously? I mean, I respect your opinion and I love the song Rearrange but....most powerful guitar solo of his entire career (of studio releases)? Really ? What makes it that special to you? Not judging your taste here, I think itĀ“s a great song but....best guitar solo work of his entire career sounds like a stretch to me considering how many great solos heĀ“s recorded. " IĀ“d rather be a stank ass hoe because IĀ“m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! IĀ“m always funny dude...IĀ“m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Money don't grow on trees has the same feeling to me as R&R love affair. Rearrange could have been a 2010 Outtake. So much fun to see everyone being enthousiastic about the new songs but were bitching about his 2010-2012 output. As we can see now, his style in his older days weren't that different from the one in his peak. He was always great.

I see huge hit potential in Money Don't Grow On Trees. Short, Americana, appealing to music heads who wants to learn a new chord on their accoustic guitar. But even for a mainstream audiences who could recognize the lyrical content. Dare I even say Vagina could be a huuuuge anthem in the LGBT community. Punk Rock style, anarchistic in sound. Speaks to a young audience. Depends how you promote them. They sound fresh and modern. [Edited 12/2/19 13:36pm]

Finding it hard to accept that Bold Generation was recorded in 1982. There's something so New Jack about it.
