So, I'm really bad with lyrics at the best of times, and thought I'd ask here. In "Rearrange", I'm not sure if Prince is saying "won't" or "want" in a few places:

"People today won't/want change"

"Kids today won't/want love"

I've seen people say that the lyrics are "won't", and this would go with the later line "your music won't make me dance, I won't give it half a chance", but thought I'd see what everyone else hears there.

The lyrics are : "People today won't change" - "Kiss the day more love".

Come on man. No that is not what he's singing. Nevermind the fact "kiss the day more love" makes not one remote lick of sense, it's clearly audible that he's saying "kids today want love - the kind we're dreaming of".

it's nothing more than an early Lady Cab Driver. What's the fuzz?

Totally agree. I’m surprised that this point is unnoticed. It doesn’t even come up in the disc notes, which is odd to me. I could see replacing Lady Cab Driver with it on 1999 though. LCD hasn’t aged that well in terms of that bridge section.

It certainly shares some musical elements, but has a lot more differences with “Lady Cab Driver” than I was expecting based on reviews.

I totally love it. I have played it 48 times already, my most played track from this set.

I keep going back to it, too. I’m just loving the guitar work. Most people will acknowledge the similarities with LCD, but there are a lot of differences. I’m undecided on which is better.

Unnoticed? It was mentioned in the first reviews and talked about here plenty. It's very clearly a scenario where he reworked the song and ended up writing new lyrics. He's done it before.

That being said, they are not similar enough to prevent one or the other from being a b-side, so it's kind of interesting that he didn't release Rearrange at the time given it fit so well with his aesthetic.
