I wonder if he wanted to be in a smaller, cozier room with no windows. Paisley is a big, drafty place and I noticed he had a space heater and a humidifier.

This room was tidy and clean but spartan. Maybe he just wanted simplicity towards the end.

It looked like a normal real bedroom from someone with questionable taste, who didn't spend a lot of time there and didn't like objects. It didn't fit the image, and looked too real and human but that's not any indication of a degrading physical/mental state. So Prince lived like a real person, he tossed stuff in bags, left crap on the floor, didn't bother to throw away the old thing of deoderant or whatever it was. Not sure that speaks to a mental or physical state so much as a tired man who lived minimal and wasn't creating a home vibe there. It looked more like production office. Most of Paisley Park looked depressing to me, and not like it was thriving or being very lived in either, but whatever, he had other homes to do the showroom decor, house beautiful thing, when he wanted that.

I felt the same way.

Maybe he was renovating or what have you so, OK, fine. I don't pretend to know. But this man was immaculate in his approach to almost everything - his hair, his clothes, his make up, his environment - all of it. The pix I saw looked less like someone who was moving shit around and gearing up ofr a project and more like someone who'd lost interest and had built a big lonely castle/palace that brought him no joy.

I saw it reflected later in his life with his make up, hair and even in things like ceding control to the younger people he was surrounding himself with.

I dunno.

I've known an opiate user or two in my day and let's just say that housekeeping is not a priority. Maybe he was tired. He always had a lot on his plate so maybe PP was on a temporary back burner or he was spreading hinself too thin. I still can't shake the idea that he was not feeling right and that it wasn't all down to drug addiction. I honeslty think that was secondary and that he wasn't at all in Amy Whinehouse, Cobain, Keith Richards territory but something more...tame, I guess.

People get ideas in thier heads of what a junkie or an addict is but there are degrees. They're not all drooling unproductive zombies. Not by a LONG shot. A LOT of people take pain medicine and run law firms, doctors offices, run for office, fight fires and on and on. If you work in an office of any sort, I promise you there are people on pain meds or xanax there and you will never know.

Vicodin is the 12th most prescribed medication in the U.S.

If it rendered people totaly helpless, the entire nation would crumble.

When I look at those PP pix, I see "I'll get around to it one day" not the "No, we do not use milk crates for furniture in MY bedroom" that I've come to associate with Prince. Maybe I'm way off. It could be nothing more than a peek behind the curtain.

I don't think he was feeling well and could not keep up with all of it. Big lonely castle, as you mentioned.

I remember visiting PP as soon as it opened.

It looked tired and dated which was so much in contrast to his own style and immaculate presentation.

Think back to a time when you had the worst winter flu ever....didn't you just want to rest alone in a dark, warm, clean bedroom? ..... Yes of course.

im not sure what part is the saddest for me. That P was so ill or that he was so very alone. Maybe the worst combination ever . He worked very hard at a life of secrets. I most definitely believe he was ill before the pain meds took over. 😥

When I first viewed the green room, the first thing that popped in my head was 'Andre's basement.' There were many signs of a return to the beginning imo.

Over the last three years I stated my position on this issue numerous times and people pretty much nearly ran some of us out of this board because our views doesn't fit typical public narratives. And all I am going to say this is mainly Prince's doing only (not saying shady people might not be involved to accelerated things) and I think he felt he accomplished his journey on this Earth after he went back full circle.

In my opinion, this conversation will never be shut down completely because people are still looking for answers. For those who feel they have all the answers they need, that's great, and they can easily move on with their lives. For those who don't feel what's been put out there is the complete truth, they can't move on until they also reach the point of feeling they have all the answers they need. Some will never have all the answers they are looking for but some may hear something along the way that will satisfy their questions. Bottom line is that conversation is still needed to address the questions people have and the conversation has no chance of finishing until people can talk it out. Contributions to help others find closure are needed, but bitching people out because one person doesn't agree with another doesn't serve anyone any good. There's no need to harass others because one doesn't agree with what is being said. If someone is satisfied that THEY have all the answers they need, then they should move on if they can't help those still seeking.

I'm not "bitching people out". I'm participating with my view. If you don't like it, don't read my posts.

Why are you so worried about being shut down then?

After almost 4 years, the thousand-teenth public post about dead Prince's vomit and bodily functions is what you consider contributions to help others find closure? Nothing to do with closure, it's dragging him to stay in the death moment. Ambulance chasing. The man would hate it.

I get what you mean. My guess is it was a little of both, but what I reacted to most leaned towards a peek behind the curtain because it predated the timeline we have of the pills and looks more like lifestyle stuff instead of what could be fixed over a weekend while he was away. It also looks to me like what it was, a hard working older Black man's home office facility in the Midwest that was designed in the 80's. So the blanket on the mini sofa, where he'd been napping, where nobody planned for someone to really live and nap... somehow that stayed like the cinderblocks.

As for his bedroom, he could have stayed in there for nostalgia reasons. What I mean by that, is that I'm sure the green bedroom was a lot like the bedrooms he grew up in. The shine of the glitz and glammer may have worn off and he preferred somewhere he could just be Prince and didn't have to be the persona he created.

I'm sure it was just comfortable for him, and how he liked to live or he would have put effort into changing it. I actually thought the round bed was where he was sleeping, and the green room must have been where Kirk or someone staying over was living. But the humidifier, plus the cheap fan propped on the space heater on the floor thing was a bit dorm room. Even PP itself isn't exactly glitzy. The studios were pretty generic and didn't have any personality either, but I guess it reminded him of studios he used to rent, with all the wood paneling and whatnot. I'm surprised they still make that bath mat style wall to wall carpeting too. He obviously didn't care, but I can't help but wonder how many women he courted, that stayed over the first night in that silver room, and thought "is that all there is?", or how it came to fruition that it's a museum, and people are touring it.

What's amazing to me is he had done at least some updating, with the displays, the affirmation murals, and (I would guess) the rainbow pattern on the ceiling. I don't know how you spend so much time in modern nice hotels and then go back to that. The kitchen looked great at least.

The Green Room was on the second floor.

This room did not have windows as he slept during the day. He may have wanted to feel total privacy and warmth. The other 2 bedrooms were very large, had windows and could have been difficult to keep really warm.

Someone mentioned his 'generic' studios. I disagree with that. We just returned from Paisley and I felt his studios were timeless, elegant and spilling over with amazing equipment, ie., synths, huge speakers, guitars, microphones, consoles etc. Studio C had floor-to-ceiling photos of Ida, Hannah, Prince and Donna. It also housed 2 grand pianos and an expersive-looking ping pong table.

IMO, Paisley looked in better condition in 2019 than in 2016.

Was it really expensive? Because they let us play on it when I went last year.

When she wasn't staying at the Country Inn and Suites... It must be odd to be summoned by Prince to fly into town, and then be told to stay at the motel down the road. I know in her statements she said she knew what side of the bed he slept on and such so she obviously stayed in the green room. (Based on additional things she said as well). But I found it odd that he had her stay at the motel that last trip. (No idea how often she stayed where, I just found it peculiar).

Not really, Prince(r.i.p.) had EVERYONE stay at that hotel he summoned near PP. Until he was ready to see them. Then he would summoned them over to PP by his driver Kimberly. Or he would drive himself & pick them up personally by his array of choices of luxury vehicles, he kept stashed away in his underground garage, in his sprawling Paisley Park estate. Of course except the ones that already had homes there that he funded them. Like Kirk,Morris Hayes, His ONLY living full blooded relative Tika, Larry G & his late father John L. Prince(r.i.p.) was ALWAYS a VERY busy man. He wasn't a person that U can just drop by at a spare of the moment. U had to be summoned there at his wishes.

Of course, but in 2019 there are plenty of new materials, including more modern wood panels, fabrices, plastics, etc. The panels don't have to be shiny orange-y wood. It's just not a really aesthetically pleasing room in the big scheme of what you can rent, or what you would envision for a personal studio to look like. Plus the cheap parquee flooring doesn't help or serve any accoustical purpose. He probably spent more time in those rooms than anywhere, but it suggests he might have been ...practical. Maybe dimming the lights and lighting candles went a long way.

Not really, Prince(r.i.p.) had EVERYONE stay at that hotel he summoned near PP.

Right, but again, these aren't very Prince'ly digs for his guests. No knock on that Country Inn, which has been renovated more recently thant PP, and looks pretty nice with the fireplace, and all... but some of his guests weren't staying in a Country Inn normally. Then you get summoned to the mini compound and he welcomes you to the time warp. It sure speaks to the magic of Prince's presence. Put him in a walk in closet sized bedroom and people found the room enchanting.
