Why people people keep thinking "Oragasm" is literally audio of Prince putting an orgasm on a woman? I come across this oftenly from people who review the Come album. I think Prince called this X-cerpt of Poem "Oragasm" cause it somehow fits with how it's edited.

Because the only other person who was around when it was recorded and is still alive said it was.

"putting an orgasm on a woman"
is that how it's called nowadays?

Jill said she was in the 'booth' singing her part, and then Vanity came to do her part as she made some tea in the kitchen. There was a vibrator in the studio. She heard it come on(said it sounded like a lawn mower) and heard Vanity's moans. Jill didn't see it happen. So there is a 50/50 chance Prince actually used it on Vanity or it was manifactured.

I have no doubt. Look, Vanity was "bout it". I can imagine a bed in the studio, the lights turned off, and no one but Prince in the control booth just watching and listening.

Well anyway, the answer to the question is: people keep thinking that "Ora gasm" is literally audio of an orgasm because it has been reported to be literally the audio of an orgasm by a person who was in the vicinity of the recording. It may or may not be true but you cannot discount the possibility.

"Imagine what you look undressed. You're almost there" The song Orgasm is Prince and a woman each pleasuring themselves (aka masturbating) in front of each other, hence the "imagine what you look like from across the room"...and "come on, you're almost there...come with me". Prince just used Vanity's vocals/orgasmic moans to tell the story of the song. [Edited 10/18/19 19:07pm]

Aaron, this was originally recorded for the unreleased Vanity 6 track "vibrator". Well worth tracking down for Prince's (quite probably politically incorrect)portrayal of a gay sex shop owner. Not the greatest outtake ever, but a fun track none the less

Don't think that he's playing a gay man. I think that's him doing an older woman's voice.

People, please read Andrewm7's post about the female voice in Orgasm. It IS NOT PRINCE moaning and groaning!! It is VANITY pretending to, or actually, masturbating within the song. The song was called Vibrator, and was planned for Vanity 6's second album, which did not happen because Vanity left the Prince camp in July 1983. * Prince took an excerpt of Vanity's vocal and included it in his song Orgasm - originally called Poem - for the Come Album. * Here is some information on the original song (Vibrator) and a link to princevault.com for all of the information: http://princevault.com/in...e=Vibrator * "The track is an ode to the battery-operated sex toy. The narrator (Vanity) sings about her vibrator, before the song transforms when the batteries run out in her toy; she goes to a store where she meets a shocked store clerk, played by Jill Jones, who offers to "take it downstairs" to install the new batteries. The narrator leaves, instead taking it to a different store, and meeting a different clerk (played by Prince in his Jamie Starr voice), who gives her the batteries and rushes her out of the store. She then takes her toy home, and the song ends with her moans and her eventual climax."
