The first sentence from the article is misleading. They are not objecting to Tyka selling out to PW. Comerica is objecting to PW becoming an interested party to the Estate proceedings, and their request for access to the system that contains all the Estate goings on that we cant see.

Thank you for clarifying that because too many out there aren't paying attention and are falling for sensational headlines....if they even read the article at all.

Prince’s Estate Fires Back After Prince’s Sister Sells a Large Portion of His Estate

A few days ago, it was reported that Tyka Nelson, the sister of the late rock and roll legend, Prince, had sold off a generous amount of her share in Prince’s estate, in the wake of her mounting financial debt.

According to court documents, Nelson sold the portion of the estate to Primary Wave, which is a private equity fund. In addition, she requested that Primary Wave be involved in “all matters” regarding the singer’s estate, which would give the company a say in the business dealings of the estate. However, since then, Comerica Bank, who is the court-appointed administrator for the estate, has responded in a statement to the court, in an attempt to block the sale.

I don't have an issue with her selling the portion.

It seems that what the Court has an issue with is giving Primary Wave an equal seat at the table.

Yes, I agree that this is the problem. They didn't want to do it for Alfred's sale either but not sure if that has been deemed legit yet or not.

Me neither. Primary Wave is probably much better positioned to deal with the music than any of the heirs are. But it is concerning that they are looking to sit in with the rest of the heirs to have a say so. Should be interesting to see where this goes.

Right, there are only 6 heirs and right now none of them have inherited anything. How can you sell something that isn't even yours yet? I don't blame the court, I wouldn't want them to have an equal seat at the table either.

If there are 6 heirs, and Tyka sold A PORTION to Primary Wave, then that would be a 7th seat at the table, correct?

Can Tyka and Alfred legally sell something, that isn't even their's yet? All on the premise of what they might get or not get? Without the Court even approving it?

What if 1 heir wants to sell a portion to Lawnie? Another heir wants to sell a portion to WB? Another one wants to sell a portion to Sony, and then 2 want to sell a portion to Primary Wave? And another wants to sell to JayZ.

What will happen with the music then? How could any of them come to an agreement on how to release anything?

If each heir sells a portion of their part, that would be 12 people setting at the table. How is that going to work out?

"Record company people are shady"

"Don't trust that guy, remember Industry Rule #4080."

"Check The Rhime" by A Tribe Called Quest. In the song, Q-Tip says "Industry Rule #4080, record company people are shadyyyyy!" In the song, they don't really elaborate on that and the only other definition I could find for industry rule 4080 was on Urban Dictionary.

It says "By extension, a rule reminding not to trust anybody whose actions in a particular situation are driven by the urge to make money"

Tyka filed a response today stating she gave PW power of attorney.

This means PW can speak on behalf of Tyka on all Estate matters.

The problem is whether the Judge acknowledges this POA.

This issue may be going to the Court of Appeals.

eyepop The Declaration filed by L. Mestel of Primary Wave sure puts it right out there. "Primary Wave has purchased from two of the heirs a substantial portion of their inheritance expectancy in exchange for a payment to them of significant consideration."

The whole filing can be interpreted simply in the words of Rhianna, "B_ _ ch Betta Have My Money" blowup

Hopefully Comerica will be able to block the sale.

.

Sure, and thus bankrupt Tyka before she even has a cent of the supposed inheritance.

Why could Prince run stuff without this absurd and decadent `overhead`?

This means that the system currently in place extracts WAYYY too much dough for what it 'produces'.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I guess if you are not living within your means anyone can go bankrupt.

I don't spend money I don't have. I have a job, I get up at the crack of dawn and work at least 9 1/2 hours a day 5 days a week.

I also take my lawyers advice and don't keep shopping lawyers til I find one that tells me what I want to hear.

Maybe all this Estate stuff would've been settled had they have listened and done what Comerica wanted them to do.

Uh Oh. The Judge is not happy! Here is just a snippet of what the articles says. eek

“If you want the fur on the back of my neck to stand up, refer to yourselves, Primary Wave, again as ‘owners of this estate,’” Judge Eide said sharply. “You are not an owner of this estate. Sharron, John, Norine, Omarr and Tyka aren’t owners of this estate. Primary Wave is not, either.”

eek More from the previous link.

Additionally, new court documents reveal Primary Wave issued at least three separate monetary loans to three different Prince heirs, including both Alfred and Tyka, in late 2018 and early 2019. These loans prompted at least two previous attempts by Primary Wave to enter the Prince probate case as an “interested party,” both of which eventually proved unsuccessful. Confirmation both Tyka and Alfred have sold significant percentages of their interests, however, now forces the court’s hand.
