What's the biggest amount of $ you've spent on anything Prince related & did you tell your partner!

Prompted by the fact that I read about a fan who went to every 21 nights in London gigs + the aftershows & tried to hide the cost form his wife! lol

For those with partners assume a false ID now!

I'll go first:

Opening night & closing night of 21 nights in London. Seats cost around £750.00 each for premium & no my partner never knew!...& still doesn't! Also factor in hotel & train..OUCH!

Mine will actually be 1999 super deluxe.

The wife is aware. She doesn't understand. She said "haven't you already got that record".

I only started spending much money on Prince stuff fairly recently, so nothing spectacular. My future spending record (pun unintended) will be TGE on vinyl if a Legacy reissue doesn’t turn up soon. lol

I spent over $300 on the chain hat at Paisley Park. I regret nothing--I'd wanted that since I was a teenager. smile

2 cloud guitars in 2017 1800 each and this past April 2950 on a sign o the times print from Jeff Katz . No I didn’t tell her.

2012 the last time I saw him live I spent 1100 on 2 main shows and 1 after show. Glad I did though because it was the last time I saw him.

Around $1,300 for 4 tickets - 3rd row for the 7:00 show and 7th row for the 10:00 show at the Sony Theatre in Toronto (Piano and Microphone). Plus overnight accommodations. March 25, 2016 - 3 weeks and 6 days before his passing.

Hubby knows, he was there with me at both shows.

Here’s a strange confession. I switch out my contacts every few weeks for a new pair. I STILL HAVE THE PAIR OF CONTACTS THAT I WORE TO THOSE LAST PRINCE CONCERTS. When I was in the process of disposing of them, the thought went through my head.... these contacts saw Prince and you will never see him again. I could not throw them out. Weird, eh?

Wow 😲 I never spent that much money on anything Prince. I think the ticket to the only concert I went to was about $100 and I was in probably the 19/20th row. Idk how anyone can pay for vip etc and the premium tickets.

I still wear the glasses that I wore to the concert. At that time it was for overall use until I got Lasik, now I use them for reading glasses.

I guess mine is also the summer of 21 nights in London. I didn't do all 21 though, I think I ended up with something like 12 main shows and 9 aftershows. Does my wife know and does she mind? Well, I met her at one of the shows, so I think she's pretty happy with the situation. biggrin

As far as an individual purchase, it must be the 1999 super deluxe CD set.

RIP sad

Just the accumulation of flights, tickets, and accomodation, etc., following Prince around on the 2012 Aussie tour! I saw 5 main shows and 3 aftershows, most of which were interstate. Probably cost me a few grand if I think about it. My girlfriend at the time didn't seem to care. She knew I was a huge fan!

As an often penniless student in 1988/89 I spent (literally) my last 60 pounds on a vinyl (bootleg) version of the Black Album. The guy had advertised it for 650 pounds claiming it was an original – we agreed 150 over the phone subject to inspection I told him it was all I had - I suspected it was a boot as it was’nt too hard to negotiate the price down – on the day could tell from the packaging and record itself it was a bootleg but I still wanted it.. by then luckily I only had about 60 pounds left after rent etc cos if I had more I would have paid it.. (it’s the version that looks like the original but with the missing ‘h’ in rockhard)

*

The symbol chain from the paisley park store back in the day..

*

The London 21 nites shows – 2 friends and I travelled from Ireland – went to 6 main shows and 3 aftershows. I had a seat very near the stage for one the shows. Fun times.

God Bless Prince
(I've been on prince.org on and off since 1998. This is my 3rd or 4th username as I forgot passwords. Previous usernames were mgck01, sledgemcpeak. Peace to all here)

Oh Lord, so very, very many.

When I couldn't get into the first Fillmore show and paid a $2,500 "charitable contribution" to get into the second.

The last minute overnight trip to Vegas for the House of Blues show.

The thousands of dollars spent on flowers sent backstage.

But, really it's NOHB.

And if I had paid to see every single live show, I wouldn't regret it. In fact, I regret that I didn't.

My biggest purchase has yet to be spent! I'm saving to go to France and get a portrait of Prince by Thomas Carli Jarlier (IMO the best tattooist in the world). With travel, hotels and actual cost, this will be by far my biggest spend yet (concert tickets are my biggest up until now). Here's his Hendrix:

Hha, there is no partner. (hint...)

But we're talking a few thousand, depending on how large the timeframe is.

(think about tickets, transportation, lodging, gear (!), releases, etc)

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

It pays to read the whole message. My first thought was "that's not Prince! That's Hendrix!"

But it looks great. Got pics of your Prince one?

Early on, the most expensive thing I bought was the (unofficial) purple paisley Diamonds & Pearls box. I sold it for a loss, but not much.

Since then, I think the Paisley Park Ultimate tour + merchandise (tamborraca, symbol tambourine, guitar book) + hotel stay was probably the most expensive Prince-related thing I've done.

Nope, not had it done yet. Still saving, it will be thousands, but I hate bad portrait tattoos so I really want him to do it. I have a symbol already though.

If it looks close to that Hendrix one, it will be well worth the wait and the cost!

Mine would also be my trip to Minneapolis to visit Paisley Park twice over the course of three days. I purchased some items in the 'gift' shop but that didn't come to very much. The plane fare, hotel stay and car rental were the costliest. I'm not complaining. It was well worth it and hopefully I will get back to PP someday soon. Tickets to a few concert tours here and there came close to the trip cost but still not quite as high.

Too much. The signed guitar, signed microphone, original vinyls. We won't even talk about the Buick Wildcat I am restoring... I do what I do, I don't need permission to buy something.
