Chelsea Rodgers - RUINED by this verse... It was such a funky return to form & then this drops in! It's like your parents turning up unexpectedly to your house party!!! I mean, we love & understand his desire to educate us through the guise of up tempo funk [Get on the Boat, Gold Standard etc] ...BUT this time it was not appreciated by me!!
Come on
UGH! | |

Not just that, also the verse about how she can't get jiggy with you unless you've, 'been baptised according to the master plan' RIP

and basically the majority of his songs post Larry Graham.
Damn you Larry... | |

Well he's just trying to say that this CR person was a JW. To me it seems like he's talking about 2 different people, just blending them into 1 person. I mean like, did Chelsea really have a butt like the letter "C"?

Oh my god. I always thought she had a butt like a "leather seat". Which always seemed like a weird thing to have a butt like. Flat and firm? Letter C is way better.

Damn you Larry... There is no way that Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Moses was a Pharoah. That is an addition all Prince's own. But then again, many of Prince's 'JW inspired' lyrics were his own interpretation. The Rainbow Children, in particular, is full of them and is more representative of Prince's own JW hybrid, than actual official JW doctrines and beliefs.

I guess it shows that JWs sometimes do read things other than the prescribed reading. Whether all that info is true or not is debatable. For me that kind of stuff has zero to do with my spiritual walk so i can take it or leave it. I'm just frustrated that after all the hubbub about her, she was just another revolving door associate. I thought she'd have at least been a relative of some kind. I was deflated on that one. But the song alone doesn't bother me, I play it when I'm in a fast pace mood. Time keeps on slipping into the future...
This moment is all there is...

I almost died laughing on this one, Mintchip!! Yeah, don't think a "leather seat" would be much of a compliment for a model. Hey, it happens......................

Shake it like a Juicy Juice will always have meaning for some of us! My dad used to do their advertising. We had cases of it in the garage. "if you can't clap on the one, then don't clap at all"

Part of the Juicy Juice ad campaign was that you had to SHAKE IT before you DRINK IT. This was in the 1960's - way before juice boxes, it was in little individual plastic bottles with peel off foil tops.

Why do so many fans see Prince as a victim of indoctrination, but not Larry? It’s just how organised faith works – it’s like a virus. Scapegoating a particular individual misses the point, and ultimately nobody is responsible for what they choose to believe but themselves. If Prince was accepting of Larry’s belief system it was because he was looking for it, it was in accordance with his own thinking or he had lost his way in some other respect. He's doing no less than Larry with his lyrics, or his door knocking etc. I really disliked Prince's piety in later life, but I think that people are far too hard on Larry. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Plus that's what the interwebs says it is. Maybe he meant how leather seats sometime have butts on them? At least that's how I always interpreted it 😁 For all time I am with you, you are with me.

I personally don't mind that verse. Not as bad as that rap verse inserted in 2011's Extraloveable

I think some people forgot Prince was as religious as he actually was just because he wrote some songs about fucking. Since 1980, he's been injecting religious themes and lyrics into songs pretty casually. Maybe you thought he was being sarcastic? This lyric doesn't bother me because it's fuckin Prince, so what more do you expect. Especially latter day Prince who hid his religious beliefs much less than he ever did before.
