so how and where did they come up with "35 previously unreleased tracks from prince's legendary vault" ?

.

I'm assuming the 23 unreleased vault tracks (Moonbeam Levels has been previously released) + the concert recording.

indeed, i forgot about "moonbeam levels" being officially released already.

after 20 years of living with it as an outtake, it slipped my mind smile

It’s listed as being 18 seconds longer than what was released on 4Ever, so a slightly extended version at least.

Just got an email from the official Prince store. It says "10CD/1DVD", but when you click on the link the listing is the same as here, "5CD/1DVD".

Dammit! I got excited for a minute thinking there was an even bigger version. lol razz

Ordered teh 5CD + DVD set from Amazon and expect the price to drop a bit nearing the release.

If the dvd is not remasterized

.

Dude, what are you even talking about? There isn't a first DVD release of this. This is by definition the first master of this video. Also, "remasterized" isn't a word.

Of course it s a word.
If it's like The Bad Wembley concert of MJ or the Purple the rain live, this is not remasterized.
The simple fact this is a dvd and not a blu ray is not a good sign, and probably the picture won't be remasterized from the original source.
.

Nothing will be "remasterized", because "remasterized" is not even a word, much less a thing.

I wonder if this will sell better than Originals?

Also wonder how sales will compare to PR deluxe? Should give an indication for how large/small the market is for these type of releases.

1999, the album, surely already sold like 10.000 copies this year.
.
If they really sold it 60 dollars the deluxe edition, it won't sell much than Originals for sure.
.
But it will make publicity for the original album that will make better numbers on streaming.
.
If there is no documentary, no lead single with a good music video, no recertification, it Will sell like Originals, which sold 53.000 copies in the US in 3 months. You can double that number worldwide.
.
For the record, 1999 sold 80% of its worldwide sales in the US only.

I love how the two people above, who both got it so wrong with this release, remain the most active in this thread. AND they're still speaking as if their opinions mean something. Learn some humility FFS. Or do you both have some frickin' personality defect? I know I've lost, though, because you both live for this shit.

It's not remastered, didn't you see what the Prince YoutTube channel posted today, the first video of 1999 Houston concert from the deluxe DVD.

The term you are referring to is "remastered", and I don't think it means what you think it means. remastering isn't some magical process that automatically makes any video source look amazing. no matter what processes are applied to improve it, a video can only look as good as whatever highest quality source looks like.

The Bad Wembley show WAS remastered. The VHS tape from which it was sourced was sent to the same lab that restored the NASA moon landing footage, but being as it was a VHS tape, it can only look so good.

Not being from a high quality source has nothing to do with whether or not something is remastered. You can't polish a turd if that's all there is to work with.

I’m just glad we are getting 1999 deluxized just four and a half months after Originals was releasized. I preorderized mine and can’t wait to peruse the rephotorized booklet and linerized notes.

The first 2 songs I am going to listen to are....

If It’ll Make U Happy
How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore? (Take 2)

after that I may go on to "cd 4" and then back to "cd 3"

Frankly I am mostly intrested in the vault cds and the main album.

I will listen to the live CD some too and maybe once to the edits... and I will watch the DVD a few times....

No, you can't remaster something without the original master I m sorry.
So neither OR deluxe nor Bad or the moon landing were remastered.
.
The tapes exist for Bad Wembley but they didn't locate it/didn't want to buy it.
By the way, it the 1999 live looks like a VHS, I doubt they sell it 60 bucks.
.
The original footage of the moon landing was destroyed/lost around 2006 according to the NASA.
So once again the moon landing wasn't remastered but "improved" from a second copy.
