New upcoming book: "Prince: His Majesty's Pop Life: Volume 1: The Audio Experience"

.

An exclusive look inside The Vault, indepth worldwide discographies and track listings of all Prince and associated artist releases. This book is by a collective of people some of which worked within the industry itself and can present some exclusive details on releases and items that never made it out commercially.

300 Pages with plenty of colour images

Over 80 Unreleased Studio Album Configurations

List of over 3,000 Prince songs, mixes and collaborations

The Biggest listing of Associated Artists and fleeting glimpses into the studio visits by Prince on other artists music

The rarest items in existence detailed.

Many Format and Worldwide releases explored

And much much more to be announced soon....

Contributors wanted and also limited Advertising Space (for Free) will be considered for limited Prince related products/services to be advertised

This is their Twitter account: https://twitter.com/JamiePublishing (yes, they're calling themselves "Jamie Starr Publishing"), this is their Facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/...yspoplife/ (where the book is "out of stock", and priced at £20, discounted from £25).

Quite frankly, all of it look amateurish to me, and the pointless secrecy doesn't help. So: buyer beware.

Sounds promising, actually a bit too promising, but we'll see.
I hope the spelling error ("Majestys") on the cover is not an indication of what's inside...

Maybe the book will have a chapter or two about the buffoons who put the wrong speed for LRC and Raspberry on the Double Vinyl with the same name. 14,000 records pressed up with mistakes. Par for the course for Warners, the Estate, and the world of Quality Control.

I've asked twice already but no-one answered, so I'll try again: can someone who has the original Japanese edition of HMPL confirm whether they have the same issue (2 songs having been transferred at slightly wrong speeds) or not?

I've previously gone on record to say how little interest I have in most of these Prince books but this one actually sounds decent. But I have to agree with Bart (never thought I'd say that), this whole thing looks a bit dodgy. I mean, the only thing I care about when it comes to Prince is his music. I'm not interested in his women, his childhood, his life etc. So, on the face of it, this book seems like it should be of interest to me. But I don't trust them.

When everyone and their mother is trying to make a buck off Prince, yeah, I can completely understand why people are turned off to the flood of books and memoirs, but unfortunately, money rules the day right? The only book worth its salt since Prince passed was the Studio Sessions book imo. I will agree though that this one does look like it has potential.

If it comes from a former Uptown member I guess it should be a reliable source, but why all the secrecy? And why isn't Princevault supporting it the way they suppoprt Duane's book on the frontpage?

It would be of interest to me if if dug out things that neither me or Princevault have dug out in terms of released material, which is unlikely but not impossible given the amount of material.

The 80 unreleased albums configurations are of course the biggest mystery there, and one can wonder what does it contain about studio sessions that neither Per nor Duane have already dug out (and how was the information obtained)?

I'm a bit divided about purchasing it or not: it could be a useful resource for my discography project and full of other fascinating info, but that limited edition stuff isn't necessarily a good sign, since such a books' success is often based on reviews and it may be sold out before it's reviewed. Printing books is expensive but a digital version should be available, that would be encouraging. The site is also full of typos, which does not exactly give the project credibility.

I wish the authors would come here to chat with us and discuss the project. Since they are certainly going to be reading this, I'm counting on them joining us smile

Let's also see how much it costs, I would put 20 bucks on a bet but not necessarily 80.

At least one of them has no clue who is involved.

.

Their Facebook page has a picture of an I'll Do Anything CD that lists several versions of each track, and the CD seems to have been intended for the movie's makers. I don't think I've seen it before, but I'm not quite sure.

Is 80 really that much more than we already have?

You might wanna read my post again, there's a price in there.

That's odd to say the least.

OK, interesting. I'm mostly interested at things that were made available for my site's purpose, not in-house CD's or stuff like that, but of course any new info about anything is always welcome.

.

Is 80 really that much more than we already have?

I'd say so, I haven't counted, but I think so yeah.

Ha! Sorry I'd missed that, thx. It's reasonable I guess, let's see when pre-orders are available. I'd still like to read some reviews or chat with the authors before purchasing, but for that amount I guess it's worth the risk. That whole promo, site and typos make it look really weird, though, more like the work of Nigerian scammers than dedicated researchers.

Pvault was but no mention of Taja, though.

I wonder what that CD was for.

The book definitely seems interesting despite the odd promo.

They've updated their website and apparently re-titled the book: http://hismajestyspop.000...stapp.com/ .

.

It's now simply called "Prince: The Audio Experience".

On first glance most of the text is the same as the one they had on the previous version of the website. Only substantial change is the title and the cover of the book. This cover does look just as fake/bad as the previous one, though.

.

Still no name for the mysterious "Uptown member" that's supposed to be involved in this.
