Then there's also the fact that it hasn't been advertised all that well.
I think a lot of people would argue that this is the best promoted Prince release for years, e.g. the amount of coverage in the press (see all the links Bart and a few others have highlighted) and various associate artist interviews. There’s even been some attempt at social media. However, I haven’t even seen it yet in any UK supermarkets, where most product is bought these days.

I agree Frankie. Here in Edinburgh, Scotland. I seen it advertised on bus stops. All the media, print , digital and telivisin reviwed it and it was mostly positive.

I was surpriaed that it wasd 'visible'. And delighted.

Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

Holly Rock just hit the 275k views on YouTube, in 5 days.
Weird, but whereas it felt under the 50k views a day, it is up now to 60k views a day.
.
The dynamic is clearly better than for the last video Manic Monday that still didn't reach the 500k mark.
.
I m sure that means there will be more music videos with a better budget for the next projects.

As far as sales of any reissues or vault stuff, people can we just accept the fact it’s going to barely sell, face it, even Purple Rain remastered etc...sold a fraction of the original some have said maybe 200,000 overall so accept that nothing from now on will come close to that.

That's because Purple Rain already sold over 25 million world wide... lol

The Deluxe edition actually had great 1st week world wide sales, believe it sold 93-95k in it's first week.

And what does that mean?? That means it should have sold tons more, lets face it this is where his sales will be from now on. Sorry to break the news to all but if his "new album" at the time of his death "Phase 2" saw no spike in sales do you really think the interest in anything is there now? Originals is not a big seller because it is selling a bit to his base, and sorry to say this is where any remasters will also, in fact I think remasters if done for albums like Parade or 1999 will sell even less, Piano and a Mic was here and gone and SO will anything new if ever released. Not sure what world people are living in where Prince is going to sell Gold again, you are all living in the days when music sold. Time to let it go.

40.000 copies makes it in the top 200 SELLING (not streaming) albums of the year in the USA.
Until Last week, the #100 best seller of 2019 sold 46.000 copies.
.
I m sure Originals could have done better, if it had been promoted with NC2U as a lead single (and not releasing last year completely out of the blue). It would have made great publicity.
.
A TV documentary should have been done to promote Originals interviewing the Bangles and the other girls he banged in exchange of a hit.
.
The music videos for NC2U and Manic Monday were too WTF. Rehearsals footage is a great idea, but this is not professionally filmed. The resolution of the picture is poor, static, and we barely recognise Prince s face.

Originals additionally debuts on the Billboard Vinyl Albums sales chart at #2, just behind the new (and much cheaper) Thom Yorke album. Purple Rain also returns to #25 on that chart.

at 305k views now, and isn't today the 5th day?

Edit to add: I think it helps the views that the video is acutally related to the song and not just random footage.

325.000 views now!
.
I think it s six days since it was released the 25th of July, IIRC.
.
But anyway, this is a better start than Manic Monday which is now stuck under the 500k views, with only 3000 views/ a day, whereas it is a well known song.
.
The huge problem with Manic Monday is that it takes 20 blank seconds to start. This is ridiculously too long for the average viewer, especially when you want to make playlists.
.
Holly Rock is a huge improvement, something that is more easily shareable. Something that we are not ashamed of, unlike rehearsals in poor quality and not related at all to the songs.
.
240.00 views for Sex Shooter is not bad at all neither...With a music video it could have been far better.

Didnt realise it was so close to the top 100 sales ytd.Actual sales will be around 42000 pure.Completely overlooked the day early release figures.Even closer now!Agree with the NC2U comment regarding its release. Its like they are making it up on the spot.A better laid(obvious) plan could have reaped dividends

When you think about it, sales of the deluxe edition should honestly be counted twice, since they are selling two times the same album and same content.
.
Considering the obscene high price of the deluxe edition, this is not so far fetched. People actually paid two times the same thing in buying one.
.
In my book, this would be more legit than counting streaming as sales.

Anybody know the world wide sales on Originals...

So we can estimate it has around 40,000 in USA right now, what about total?

Also how does this compare to the sales of the Piano & A Microphone. It seems odd that for so much promotion on Originals 4ever and Piano seemed to have outsold Originals by a lot...

The last 24 hours were groundbreaking for Holly Rock, since it made his highest number so far :69500 in 24 hours !
When it began at 68.000 and fell under 50.000 two days ago.
.
Total is now up to 377.000 views.
.
So there is clearly a strong dynamic for this song, especially when you compare with Manic Monday (473k in 6 weeks, now stuck at 3000 views a day!)
.
Let s not forget either that NC2U made 8.8 millions (in 15 months).
.
Overall, Originals still manages to garner Some audience. If people make the connection between those tracks, Originals could have legs in some form. This is getting exciting.
.
Another animated music video for the set is now very likely. Unless they save the money for the next project for not getting people bored.
.
But only for amortization cost, we will get another animated video like Holly Rock.
.
If they release next 1999 deluxe, they should use for the music videos live tour, but with a pristine, remasterized, picture.

If it sold 40k in the US, then it sold about 70/80k worldwide.
The physical market shrinked dramatically the two last years.
When Prince died in 2016,it was still possible to sell millions.
Two years later, nobody makes a million anymore.
That's why I said in 2016/2017 the estate should be in a hurry to release something, or else it would be too late. But nobody listens to me...
.
I think in 5 years, selling 80k copies worldwide will look like a great number !

Actually the view count for the last 24 hours was over 100000. It went from 274000 to 377000.the 69000 odd is an average of total views per day since it landed. Definetly seems to be building. I notice its the featured video on Hits Daily Double so that helps. There are also more than 11000 votes(not all good)which is also healthy. Feel uplifted for some strange reason!

But remember, before being deleted, the Breakfast Can Wait video reached fast the 3 millions figures. And it received no airplay

I found that, but is it really official?
:
https://daily.plaympe.com...0-streams/
.
For what it s worth, Holly Rock enters at #3 this week, with Manic Monday at #15.
MM peaked at #2 in this chart
.
It also notes under the songs some radio format, surely where the songs are played ( but what s the point with streaming charts then?!) : AC, urban AC, rock, etc.

94 on Billboard, reentry. Humdrum. But why do we care if the family makes money? It would just encourage them to only put out commercial stuff instead of the wild stuff we crave. Start putting out the goods fam.

I think Originals is great, and how was P&M a "commerical" release?

And the Estate needs to make money to keep releasing stuff and to keep Paisley Park open.

Manic Monday wasn't a performance video, but a rehearsal video, where you can't even see Prince s face clearly, with an overall poor resolution, too static, etc.
.
A performance video would be cool to accompany a video.
For example, they could take a video live remasterized of an unreleased track he already performed. That would be synchronized with the song perfectly.
For instance, he already performed live Electric Intercourse or Possessed. They could have used the footage, with a pristine remasterized picture, and played it with the published track in background
