Hits Daily Double current sales figures (60% complete)

Well, in spite of finding a digital copy early, I still did my part and purchased the physical CD on Monday.

Folks, the harsh truth is this Prince albums since 2006 didn't sell all that well, infact, the declinced until 2016. He was alive and touring and couldn't boost sales. So what's the incentive now? His die hards are the only ones who want vault/new music....not the general public.

At some point, the peeps at WB or Sony are to going to pull the plug on any music being released because their won't be an ROI for them. They are going to suck the 1983 to 1986 era dry. we will get 1999 and ATWID and Parade remasters'deluxe and that will be it. Sadly for us.

The estate is going to have to come up with a way to keep that revnue stream flowing, as mentioned by many (and even myself) STREAM EVERY MOTHER F!@#$% thing from the vault...video, concerts, rehearsals, music. EVERYTHING. There will be a slow but constant stream of cash for the estate.

But by the time that will happen, I will be able to ask Prince myself, "Dude..WTF were you thinking? You left things all f!@#$ up down there"

I don't think you understand how the music industry works now. Or for that matter, how Prince constructed his tours.

Manic Monday has done over 300,000 views in under a week and is still a Top 6 Album on Amazon. It's doing better than MADONNA's NEW ALBUM.

I think it will end up doing pretty well if we keep promoting it and spread the word on it's merits.

Daily Double isn't always accurate.

Most albums lose money because they don't recoup their production/recording costs. Do you realize how little overhead there is on this album? The bar for success for something like this is not the same as Madonna or Bruce's new albums and certainly not on the level of something like a new Drake or Post Malone album. If they want a new Prince album to do anything remotely close to that they have to get a hot new artist on it (like MJ's estate did with 'Xscape'). And if they did that Prince fans would lose their minds so they're better off not going that route. This album is doing fine for what it is, and even for a Prince posthumous release it had a streaming release two weeks ago and that blip of Thursday sales (which caused it to debut a week early at number 9 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart) so a lot of the first week number for Originals have been deflated in a way that future releases won't be. So much unnecessary hand-wringing around here...

oh boy here it comes....save your myths and theories about the music industry and how Prince did his tour....it really doesn't matter....what all comes down to is CASH.... cash these releases aren't making.

I heard Prince was one of the top deceased artist of 2018.

His P&M album moved about 250,000 copies, earning the estate thirteen million dollars.

So apparently these demo projects are cash cows.

I'll leave how Prince didn't cement his legacy enough to another topic.

250,000 world wide sales? I doubt that, unless you can provide chart figures, as P&M fell of the world wide charts in the 2nd week. You can revert back to my P&M sales thread I made.

First week sales was 21,000... So... It's not really "selling"...

World Wide sales should be released this weeks via Global Charts.

Overall a very mediocre showing, Piano & A Microphone had much stronger sales in the U.S. and worldwide.

Originals is reverb laden, echoey, weird tampered with shit. Not good enough estate. Expand/remaster his albums. Originals is bonus track material at best. Idiots.
