Some notable jumps are "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold", which rocketed up from 201 thanks to a remix album being put on the service, as well as "Gold", "Starfish and Coffee", and "Sister", which all improve over 5 places.

"Stare" is still holding on at #11, a relic of it being the only Prince song available on Spotify for a few years.

Falling off are some of the Art Official Age tracks, most notably "Breakdown", "Clouds", and "Time", dropping 4 places each.

Dropping out of the top 100 are "What It Feels Like", "Peach", and "When We're Dancing Close and Slow".

This list is a lot more volatile. A lot of newer songs are jumping up the ranks. The aforementioned "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold" jumping 145 spots thanks to the new remix album. Also benefitting greatly is "Fallinlove2nite", leaping 450 spots in part because HitnRun Phase One is available again. "Endorphinmachine" and "Eye Hate U" both jump at least 70 spots, and fellow Gold Experience songs "Gold" and "P Control" also make big gains. Among the newer songs, "Musicology", "Black Sweat", and "Call My Name" all make big moves as well, showing that they have decently broad appeal.

It's interesting that there's a pretty clear-cut top 10 here - they all distance themselves quite a bit from everything that follows, to the point where they are all at least nearly doubling the streams of #11.

For quite a while, Stare was the only Prince song on spotify. It's a great track though, but it explains why it's played so much.

Slow Love on the other hand is an obscure album track. Has never been a single. In my opinion it's not nearly as strong as Stare also, but then, no two Prince fans will ever agree on what songs are good.

I think that's true for all artists, though - the big hits tend to really outstream the deep cuts.

Prince actually does pretty well compared to some more popular contemporaries like MJ and Madonna.

A song like "Adore" for example, despite not being a single and not having been available as long for streaming, has more streams than MJ songs like "It's the Falling in Love", "Burn This Disco Out", "Why You Wanna Trip on Me" and "She Drives Me Wild", among others. It has more streams than Madonna singles like "Deeper and Deeper", "Nothing Really Matters", and "I'll Remember". "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" and "International Lover" have nearly as many streams as some of the lower streamed songs on Dangerous and more streams than Madonna singles "Oh, Father", "You Must Love Me", "Angel", and "Causing a Commotion".

I don't understand how Tidal create their 'top tracks' list for an artist.

1000 x's and o's is always in Prince's top 10, and Purple Rain isn't in his top 10.

Eh, I think they're pretty good, honestly. What other huge megastars from the 80s are streaming wildly more than this? MJ has great numbers, of course, but there was never a popularity comparison between the two. Madonna's consistently been more popular than Prince, and both "Purple Rain" and "Kiss" have more streams than her most streamed song, "Like a Prayer". She's got a deeper catalogue of hits, but if you take out the recent songs from Madame X, her catalogue is getting roughly 1.6 times the daily streams as Prince.
