Oh, goodie, because I sequenced my own complimentary CD-R to 1999 in October 2010 and would love something I don't already have as well as better quality of what I already have.
And for the curious, my 1999 II collection from 2010 goes like this:
1. Feel U Up (6:38)
2. Irresistible Bitch (4:35)
3. Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) (4:09)
4. Purple Music (10:37)
5. Do Yourself A Favor (8:41)
6. How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore (3:51)*
7. Horny Toad (2:12)*
8. Girl (7:37)*
9. Baby, U're A Trip (3:46)
10. Turn It Up (5:28)
11. Extra Loveable (7:21)
12. Moonbeam Levels (3:56)*
13. No Call U (3:02)
Bonus track:
14. The Time: Dance 2 The Beat (Live at 1st Avenue 8 March 1982) (2:47)
* = released version
I love this collection. I'm sure Warners will top it with their release, though.
This would be excellent - and add "Lust U Always" as well!
What about If It’ll Make U Happy?? And Fox Trap??!! |

Yes, Lust U Always is a must, but I didn't get it until after I had made my collection and there was no room left on the CD-R to add it. The same goes for the other version of Feel U Up. [Edited 2/27/19 2:10am] FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

The "Nine Inch Nails" remasters done by James Brown (not THAT James Brown) only got praise when they were released... I never heard someone complain about those and if they did they're full of shit or listening to it through "Beats by Dre" headphones or other garbage like earbuds for their shitty phones...
Neversin.
My beautiful GOLD Beats By Dre headphones send me in a COMPLETE EARGASM when I listen to Prince's(r.i.p) music on them. Speak for yourself...
Only dumb and full of shit stalkery types, who don't know shit about sound, praise those garbage "bass-heavy because kids like that" headphones...
Neversin.

It will be interesting to see if Warner includes Girl on their collection. Although the track was from the 1999 era, it was released in the Parade era, so they may include it on a Parade collection instead.
I put the officially released version of Irresistible Bitch on my Purple Rain II collection - mostly because there was no more room on my 1999 II collection.

Girl was ATWIAD and it was slightly reworked in 1985 so the released version def belongs with ATWIAD (the original though could conceivably be on 1999, but if it's almost similar everyone's gonna make a fuss ).
In terms of recording dates Bitch is indeed more in line with PR than 1999. |

Oh, right, yes. Girl was released in the ATWID era. Sorry about the mix-up. There's so many B-sides to keep track of. I should have checked with your discography before posting. [Edited 2/27/19 5:23am] FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

The discovery that 'Girl' is (primarily) a 1999-era track is shaking my worldview... PRINCE: the only man who could wear high heels and makeup and STILL steal your woman! |

RIGHT?? I was looking around like, "what." It sounds so distinctly ATWIAD to me. Gosh. Once again proves that's there's always more to unfold about his process. And Princevault describes his tinkering with the track in '85 as a "slight remix." Wtf?? |

same here. i was like
just goes to show that he grouped songs of a certain sound/atmosphere together but was always recording, experimenting and searching. the fact that "girl" originates (in whatever form) from '82 is freaking me out

It's OK, we all get confused sometimes there are so many things. Believe it or not, it happens regularly that someone mentions something like a promo edit and I think I've never heard of this I must add it to the site, and I go check it out and the entry is, in fact, already there and I'm like WTF I have absolutely no recollection of adding this entry |

it's a pity that Neversin does not allow itself more to intervene on this forum ... it's a real source of info ... very informative...he has a lot of info to share about the 1999 Era sessions...i think it is one of his favorite era! [Edited 2/28/19 3:36am]
