1. I hope this is true!
2. I hope WB get it right this time and do a better job than they did with PR deluxe.
3. I hope this is soon as it could prove to be a bumper year of Prince re-releases/remasters along with the Sony reissues.

cool

PR deluxe was great.
The compulsive illegal downloader that you are will never be satisfied, since almost everything has already leaked. Personally, I m just listening to official releases, so everything in the CD 2 of PR deluxe was new to me. And it was the best Prince release since at least 3121

Not sure how to take your response? Very presumptuous of you to know the reason for my criticism of PR Deluxe and assume it is because I already had those tracks?

I do own physical bootlegs (not bought any for well over a decade) and did have a lot of downloads from back in the days of Napster but again nothing for more than a decade.

I did have some (not all) of the tracks included or different versions of them.

However, I always want to own official released versions of everything and wouldn't and haven't criticised any release for including rarities etc that have previously leaked...because I still want the official version.

My criticism of PR deluxe is that it was poorly executed, the sound quality wasn't great and WB reversed a previous official announcement about a second disc of vault material.

But as per previous point, I would have bought PR deluxe anyway just to own the official long version of Computer Blue.
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

All of the above fits more with the Purple Rain era to me (except maybe 'Vibrator'). They should have been on the deluxe edition, instead of those pointless edits...

Even Irresistible Bitch, I've always thought it sounded more like Purple Rain b-side rather than 1999.

right and that is where it gets weird. Irresistible Bitch as you know was recorded late 1983.

there is no real clear line... But since none of these are on the PR:D then maybe they are game for 1999 D?

The released version was actually recorded in September ‘82. He did update it a year later in ‘83.

Happy news if true.

But damn, this needs to be a proper remaster series. Of all the WB albums. Back when Prince was an indie, lots of us criticized him for not playing ball with WB, who had the money, power, and organization to do things right. Now it feels as if they have a bunch of ideas taped to the wall, and are just throwing darts at it.

WB would do well to look at the Nick Cave remaster series from a few years ago to see how to do things right.

Yeah, you are correct. And the song goes back to 81... and to me sounds more like a Time song... My question is why are the first and second verses switched?

This would be great but for a 2nd disc I would really love to see songs that have never been circulated before, song titles we don't even know exist. I would love to have a proper release of the Met Center Homecoming Show both CD / DVD or any of the Detroit or Houston shows. Really, there are so many possibilities with this and no shortage of material. If it happens, I just hope we aren't disappointed.

I would love a full length of "It it'll make you happy"

One well know issue is when does one era end? Listed below are some songs recorded before Irrissable Bitch... at one point it was not clear if IB or G-Spot would be the b-side for "let's pretend.."

G-Spot (Prince on Sax)
Chocolate
My Love Belongs to you
Promise to be true
Possessed
Vibrator
I Know What to say to you (W/ Stevie Nicks)
17 Days (Brenda)
I am Five

On this older thread: http://prince.org/msg/7/452178 there was some more tracks that could be included.

It seems to me that Prince may be on the sax in the long-circulating 1983-era 'G-Spot' we have all come to know, in its final segment during the 'Maceo' shout out. It's a bit of an unschooled, dissonant performance, and I know of no equipment he would have been using at the time that could produce a 'lifelike' synth horns section in 1983, nor has any work log identified a session musician for this early version of the song. It seems to just cut in there in the mix; perhaps the version Jill Jones spoke of more recently had that playing throughout the entire track?

Face it, we're getting this:

Disc 1: 1999 album but the segue from 1999->Little Red Corvette is broken

Disc 2: How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore
Horny Toad
Irresistible Bitch
Moonbeam Levels
Little Red Corvette (Dance Remix)
1999 7" edit
Little Red Corvette - 7" edit
Delirious - 7" edit
Let's Pretend We're Married - 7" edit
All The Critics Love U In New York - 7" edit
Lady Cab Driver - 7" edit
One common outtake from the wrong time period sourced from a Blast from the Past mp3 download.

DVD: announced in the press release but never comes out.

Special edition includes 2 unseen photos and a half speed vinyl of the same tracks spread over 8 records.

And I'll still buy it lol

Not a joke. I prefer the February 1981 version with Richard Simmons playing the Simmons SD350 electronic drum kit on it.

I have it on very good authority that "1999 Deluxe" was compiled for potential release over a year ago. I heard this from well connected music biz people in LA over a year ago (way before P&AM83 was known about, which I also leaked the news on if you recall).

Why they decided to push it back in favor of P&AM83 is unknown, but if I had to guess from reading between the lines, I'd surmise that Michael Howe (Estate Archivist) found the P&AM83 tape pretty late in the day and was so enthused by it that he pushed it up to the top of the priority queue. It's not as if the project took a huge amount to put together - just a quick remaster of the audio, the liner notes from Jill and Lisa, and the photos from Allen.

Yes! WB were not too happy about that one. lol

I'd hope for their sake that they keep a tighter ship next time, but I know from both sides of the coin that it's hard to keep much under wraps these days.

What I really hope for is just a more open relationship between the Estate, labels and the fanbase, then there's no need for any of that stuff. Work with fans and leverage our enthusiasm and love for Prince. That'd be the best way.

I do not get why they would keep it secret? It seems to have gotten more buzz the way it happened. And frankly, WB and the Estate ought to be reaching to some people here for input. Like Jimmy Page (who is 75 today) did a few years back.

There must be more piano rehearsals from that era but they managed to pick the one which has been around on bootlegs for many years, I don't think that's a coincidence but it's strange choice to release it as an album instead of a bonus disc.

TBH, I dont believe that just discovered and neeeded immediate release story at all. Nobody worth their salt as a fan did not already know about Eavesdropping In Intmate Moments. Especially someone chosen to curate the vault. Why that story was pushed is weird to me. Almost either a cover-up story for whatever reasons or straight up trolling.
