Prince, white coat, grand piano. Source?

Saw a vid on Instagram (not sure if allowed to give the link) of Prince in a white long coat (D&P era, based on the beard?) and playing a grand piano. Never seen this before. Is this widely circulating? Where's it from?

Based on the beard? The hair is a giveaway as to what era he's in.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Was it a live shot? Or did it look like a music video? From ur description it sounds like it may be the morning papers music video

You mean that very short clip? I think you´re talking about that outtake from the Diamonds and Pearls home video that was officially released.

We had a thread here a long time ago about Quincy Jones dissing Prince´s piano skills and if I recall correctly that short clip was posted in that thread, too.

Yes, Scott McCullough, who shot a lot of the D&P stuff and Gett Off home video, put it out.

Ok, so this is on the snippet when QJ slammed Prince on his piano playing. And we had that thread on here about six months ago. So there is two things I want to ask. 1. QJ has been the biggest asshole to Prince of all celebrities that talked about him. Howard Stern got mad at Prince for that Hotel Room/lights out intimate session, but he never doubted his abilities and unmatched talent. For one instance. Kevin Smith called him an asshole about the situation with the documentary back in 2001. But he cried in that Podcast after his death. But a more mean spirited person than QJ is hard to find, calling him a sub par musician and artist who only know a few chords on piano.

2. Why is this? I'm not naive, but are you going to tell me that he hated Prince because he was MJ's producer? This clip with Quincy took place in, what, 1991? So he must have made alot of money, ALOT, I mean huge piles of bags of money for producing MJ's albums and he still takes shots on Prince?! What frightened him about Prince?

Maybe at one time he approached Prince, wanting to produce an album for him In the early years like he did for MJ (and probably make a crap load of money doing it) and Prince turned him down? I've never read anything about this so it's pure speculation on my part. Who knows what is in Quincey's mind?

Kevin Smith cried on his podcast after Prince died? Really?

.

As far as QJ is concerned, I don´t know why he´s like that when it comes to Prince but I guess it might have to do with Prince´s refusal to participate in We Are The World, and his refusal to participate in the song Bad, and maybe because Prince dissed QJ during that 1995 performance of We Are The World, where Prince held his lollipop in front of QJ´s mouth.

But keep in mind that QJ is wellknown for badmouthing people and spreading gossip and also for being indiscreet. Remember that interview he gave a couple of months ago where he told the world that Marlon Brando had sex with Richard Pryor etc. etc. That wasn´t really necessary.

Also remember that QJ knew John L. Nelson so maybe that played a part, too. Maybe he saw Prince in a different light ?

Regardless, I can´t stand QJ´s pompous, arrogant ass.

Great musician, yes, interesting person, definitely...but I hate the way he talks about other celebrities, especially dead ones.
