But I do think his 70's albums get short shrift sometimes. So much so that I'd be willing to cut a song from SOTT, which is my favorite album, to keep songs like "Still Waiting," "Just As Long As We're Together," "My Love Is Forever," etc. in my 100.

I should clarify that "God (Vocal)" is the only song on my list I dislike. I think the others are just okay.

"Forever In My Life" only comes alive for me in the live version. The studio version I find a little boring.

"So Blue" makes my Prince 1978-1987 top 100 for the intro alone.

I agree about the intro -- see Reply No. 7.

I see "FIML" as one of Prince's most earnest and heartfelt songs, and it would definitely be in my top 75 or higher. Though you're right, like "ICNTTPOYM," it comes alive in the film rendition.

Right - it is an amazingingly heartfelt love song, especially played live - two of the best love songs (FIML and Adore) on one album. Also not sure how people can include Sometimes It Snows In April, Around The World In A Day, Bambi (especially the NPG Trio performance), All The Critics.., Automatic, etc. on their list of thw worst six songs????!!!

Take me With U - yes it's very "pop-y", but SOOOO infectious!! You can't NOT get into it when it's playing. I absolutely love the live Syracuse performance - the lights shine on the crowd as the song starts, and it's just a sea of screaming fans once the drums stop and they start the first few notes and the crowd realizes what song they're playing. The entire stadium is jumping up and down in unison. Magical. Even though it seems a simpler song the lyrics are quite special.

No, no. I don't skip these songs at all. I adore these songs, but the O.P. asked which songs wouldn't make the cut. It was hard to choose. Take Me With U is fun but the sing-along feel is why I added it to the list. Partyup doesn't feel exactly genuine. My Love Is Forever (game showy feel) and U Got the Look ("sho' nuff do be cookin' in my book") have a bit a cheese that doesn't quite melt.

yep, i never liked that song...and i was just as shocked that my alltime favorite Prince song, "My Love Is Forever" is on MULTIPLE LISTS...WTF???

The only Prince song I would EVER skip out of his entire catalog is "Sister", and that's only because I was 12 when I got the Dirty Mind album and I just knew I had no earthly business listening to the lyrics at that age. (I did, however, make sure to first listen to the song enough times to sing along with it and memorize all the lyrics as I started doing with all of his songs then. That was just me being completely head over heels in love with his music. The man just owned me like that.)

6 songs I would have found easy to leave off:

1. "Sister"
2. "Gotta Stop Messin' About"
3. "The Cross"
4. "Annie Christian"
5. "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night"
6. "Baby I'm A Star

All fine songs. But at that age, these were the songs I was connecting with the least.

This may be blasphemy, but I would have to remove a few more than 6 and add some of his other songs in to get it back to 100.
