Why isn't Apollonia 6 available on streaming services? After Vanity 6 and The Family albums were made available on Google Play last year (although The Family seems to be gone now), I thought Apollonia 6 would have been included by now. What's the trouble in releasing it digitally?

Maybe it's too sexy for streaming.

I never know how these things work. One moment an album is up, that its gone again, who is busy with that? I would love to have the jill jones album on spotify.

These albums were put up by fans who did not own the rights to them. They had Madhouse -24 up on Spotify at one point! So if you want to see it on there either wait a gazillion years for the Estate to do it or upload it yourself and deal with the consequences.

How are fans able to upload anything for purchase?[Edited 10/18/18 1:22am]

Same way as everyone else, there's loads of methods of getting your own music on Spotify.

Same way I uploaded my own album last year on every streaming/online store platform you can think of: you can do it tomorrow with any recording, just don't get caught if it's not music you own (and likely you will, but not necessarily immediately). Those Madhouse, V6 and Family uploads were all unauthorized. This is why they've been taken down. There are (were?) also several live Prince bootlegs on certain streaming platforms. Apollonia 6 isn't available because WB didn't bother to upload it yet. They have a massive back catalogue, decades of music, thousands of records, and a lot of stuff from them (and other major labels) still isn't available anywhere. Hopefully one day the whole archives are digitalized, but it may take decades. Uploading all those records takes time (and money). I'm surprised so many people don't have digital files of these associated artists' albums. Aren't they easy to find online?

I'd much rather have Prince's vault on a streaming service rather then Apollonia 6. Who cares about Apollonia6?

I’d love it if it was: one of the better girly protege albums. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Just to be clear, I never heard the album before outside of "Sex Shooter" and I already own every other Prince-related release from '84. This is the only one left and for completionist's sake, I want to own this one too. [Edited 10/18/18 16:33pm]

The music is primo purple era. Side B is sort fo what theyd call acoustic/real insruments instead of synth drum machine heavy and Brenda sangs her ass off on some songs. "Climb in my fur."

I remember reading in the Purple Rain sessions book that Prince originally planned on making a short film of "Happy Birthday Mr. Christian". Had he not got bored with the LP and went through with that idea, it would have fared better than it did. As successful and astronomical Purplemania was in '84, it could have been bigger still had The Time stayed together and Prince not cut off the legs of the Apollonia 6 project. The former was a bigger deal than the latter though.

I vaguely remember that long form video being online somewhere/youtube. May still be out there. It was cheesy (of course). "Climb in my fur."

Why make such unnecessary and inappropriate comments? How is it useful to the community? What is it going to achieve except for trolling and offending people? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I'm an elitist, too. This is why I respect artists and their work. You can be an elitist and know better than to say such nonsense about A6, and on a Prince board of all places A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

It was a pretty funny comment, and no one was hurt by it. Reason enough to make it.

Actually depending whom I have to hand it to, I might hand it over any of the 3 others. People who dig 80's electronic dance music, synthpop or electroclash might like it more than any of the others. Being a fan of those genres, it's by far my second favorite of the 4 after PR, and when in the right, light-hearted mood, I probably have more fun listening to it now than I do listening to PR. The first 4 tracks alone make it a killer album as long as you play them LOUD Of course, it's not an album for Dylan/Springsteen/McCartney fans A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
