How Prince conducted rehearsals I was wondering if any orgers could share some stories or articles which discusses Prince as a bandleader in detail.Listening to things like some of the purple rain era soundchecks and various aftershows, I'm constantly amazed at just how much control he had over his band. I was wondering if anyone knew of any articles with bandmates or anything which describes this aspect of Prince's genius.

There must be about 1000 interviews in written form across the inernet, and on various podcasts (the Prince Podcast, Funkenberry, Peach & Black, Questlove Supreme...) by former bandmembers explaining this. And there's this book, which is nothing but essential: https://www.duanetudahl.c...in17400317 A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I think the best thing to do is to actually listen to the rehearsals themselves. They are quite telling. The wooh is on the one!

1 thing that always stands out is how in control he has always been. He worked them hard & jammed for hours...some sessions are hard to listen to based on sheer length...I am guessing some sessions were a nightmare to be part of for the bands!

It's also interesting how he uses the band as a "human sampler", to try out his ideas in real-time. He was such a creative force. [Edited 11/1/18 7:50am] The wooh is on the one!
