Uncomplicated estates with less assets than Prince take up to 24 months to finalize. So it will be awhile before Prince's estate is closed.

WTH? What is the matter with these folks?

I asked Prince's cousin last weekend if these family arguments will ever be resolved and he said: never, the problems run too deep.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That's a shame. Wish they could put aside their differences until this gets resolved.

All this will achieve is fattening the lawyers pockets. The Estate is being bled dry with idiocy and pettiness.

And the mess part it doesn't have to be that way if the siblings would work together and the estate stops wasting money on bullshit fees and stuff. Prince's estate has the potential to be very profitable too as years go by. Damn the siblings has it good and also good treasures in their hands-getting access to something they didn't work for and now they have the potential to blow it. [Edited 6/19/18 17:53pm]

I agree and it shouldn't be that way if SNJ just chill and stop taking poor advice from Londell.
Some people on here said they should get a payout and go on their way, I agree.

Wait they sat up there and allow them to release an album ofr next year no problem then get mad about some streming numbers the next week? Which one is it? Straight Jacket Funk Affair

The only people making bank at the moment is the lawyers. It is in their personal interest to stretch out any disputes for as long as possible so they can collect their fees. Classic legal firm approach to maximise fees. Sad, very very sad. 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Does anyone know how long the deal is with Graceland to handle PP? Also, I am wondering if the estate will have to pay Graceland back for the money it put into PP to bring it up to code so it could open as a tourist attraction, or if that money does not have to be repaid. I cannot see PP being a tourist venue in years to come - it is in Minnesota, not Memphis or Los Angeles or New York. JMO Then what will the heirs (or heirs of heirs) do - sell it, donate it to the state ... Are they even thinking about that?

In part because of, and like the Mall of America. Add a major sport or concert in town, and there areplenty of tourists with 89 flowers on their back. I still think that one of the better solutions for Vault-related and post 1996 music/video/live should have been an NPG Music Club powered by nugs. It may still be able to be done as these artists still have
http://nugs.net/browse/artists
Springsteen has his deal with Sony and this seems to work out very well in his favor.
Imagine videos, live concert audio and video, outtakes, movies, spanning P's entire career on demand.
This would be great. Hopefully, this is what Sony may try to do for the hardcore.
As far as the Tidal situation, SNJ seriously needs to be paid off and sent away. They know next to nothing regarding P's work or who to trust and are completely hindering all progress and being publicly embarrassed by judges along the way due to their frivolousness.

I also read in the court docs that the federal court dismissed the estate's claiim wth prejudice. I guess that means that the federal suit had no merit or that the court ruled in favor of Tidal?

As always, thank you for putting this in layman's terms. It is good that this is behind them. Is the heir's lawsuit against Moline and Walgreens separate from the Estate? Since Tidal was settled, I am sure the terms will be undisclosed.

Prince's family should have reached out to his music more Hear me out here. Prince, bless his heart, related to folks through music. He (in cryptic ways) opened up in his music. It may sound selfish but it was how he truely communicated; it was where he felt at home. A music studio without music can probably seem cold. With music flowing through it, it is not. . Their lack of knowledge or reverence for his work might be why he wasn't particularly close to them. I suspect that one of the reasons that he and his father (as off-and-on as their relationship was) were probably closer than he ever was with his siblings stems from this fact. I say that his siblings needs to get to know his music, should have let him produce their work (Tyka) when he was alive, should get to know their brother better through his work now, and through the stories from his associates. After all, the siblings are reaping the benefits now. I think they kind of owe that to him. They would protect his legacy and be better in charge of his estate if they did. I understand if they felt he rejected them but I don't imagine that was his intent. Here is a man who worked his butt off to connect to others through his art and his half-sister can't name any song other than Purple Rain as her favorite. If he knew that, I imagine it didn't offer much hope in his heart to communion with his blood. Maybe, he would have asked more about their lives if they had asked a bit more about his. Its time to bridge that gap. It was a shame it wasn't bridged before. Its like an autistic person being expected to stop being autistic. To reach a person like that, you have to understand how they communicate. You might then get them out of their shell a bit more if you do; you might get them to do a few normal things. To hear Sharon say that she thought P wasn't doing anything when she was at work in that year or so he stayed with her..only for to recently find out he had been giving the kids in her apartment complex music lessons--that fact says a lot about the unspoken gaps in his family.
