If Prince were still alive, do you think Paisley Park would of been opened as museum as soon as it did?

I have heard that opening PP as a museum was all part of his plan anyway, though never really heard of a time frame of when he was going to do this. It seemed after only 6 months after he passed was way too soon open...kind of a rush job... With him gone, some of the displays might not be what he would of wanted and how it;s being ran he might of taken issue with...

So if he was alive, to do you think the operation and what's going on there now would be different?? What do you think he would of added or removed from the tour??

I've read some pretty horrific reviews of PP and how some people are being treated when they visit there. So much so, I am questioning if I should go there. It seems they really don't have there act together yet...

i think he would still be living there, working with that new band he had lined up. would have been cool to see him work with mononeon. i was looking forward to that. maybe parts of the Park would have become a museum, but i think not in the way it's open for business now.

Well, Prince often had Paisley Park tours for the public when he was alive with his wardrobe etc, on display. During the celebrations, album releases, etc. Point being, Paisley Park has always been open for fans, etc.

Fair point...but as I asked... compared to how it's being ran now...what do you think Prince would of done differently....

Didn’t he actually start the plans to make it into a museum before he passed on?

Yes. More than likely not at the exact time that it did, but maybe by now in 2018, it would have been ready to go and he would pretty much retire elsewhere.

No, I don't think it would have opened as a museum as it is now, if he were still alive. I think Prince alluded that he was going to do some sort of residency at Paisley Park. I don't know if his museum plans had anything to do with that, but could be. As far as how it is being ran, for the most part, I don't have any issues.

.

I would like to see more representation of his music on the tours. It's rather quiet in there, which doesn't represent how I remember it always being. I also wish they would start doing concert viewings again, but apparently that isn't their fault and is an estate issue. As far as the tour guides, they are getting what they paid for. Most of them had never been in Paisley Park, so they kind of go on script.

According to Funkenberry he was working on it but some things weren’t ready before he passed. The Graceland folks claim they have emails he authored that explained in detail what he wanted.

I do question if it would have opened were he still alive because apparently he was living there. Now sure how that would have worked even if they keep the upstairs off limits to tours.

I'll tell you what, I toured Paisley Park several times when Prince was alive, and I have toured it several times since it's been a museum.

-

A LOT of what is on the current tour is (almost verbatim) what was said during the tours for the celebrations, etc.

-

The truth is, when Prince was there, fans actually got to see MORE of the place. The vault being one thing, his parking garage (where Sexy MF was filmed) being another...

Probably not yet. He was still working on a lot of stuff there. I can't see him doing the museum when he was still working, recording, and collaborating with others there.
And i too wish they would bring back the concert screenings.

Prince had intentions to make it more bespoke and interactive than it is now. Unless some of these elements are added later I can't imagine it's 100% Prince's vision.

Prince's museum may not have been open all year 7 days a week either.

I'm sure Prince was intending to still perform and record there too. He would likely have made the odd guest appearance also.

Some of the exhibit spaces were in place, but the artifacts were not.

The house that is being built is on a property on Red Fox Circle that Prince owned. The construction didn't start until after he had passed.

I get the feeling that the big plans he had (rumored) about a PP residency during the Summer would have included something like this.

Wasn't supposed to ACTUALLY be a museum. That was just something to give him peace of mind so he could face the challenges of his health issue. Same thing with Prince 2.0/NextPrince etc. Wasn't supposed to be a thing, just a way of clearing his head so he could answer the broader questions.

Because the contract was already signed to build the house before he died. It was even mentioned in the court papers. A few people who worked for him said his living in PP was temporary.

Who has exhibits built to clear their head? The interior designer he hired even showed off her designs that he had approved. This was going to be a museum and trust me if plans were not in place the estate managers would not have allowed it to go forward and not this quickly.

I think some of you are forgetting that a court is overseeing these decisions and money is not going to be spent to start of a museum unless things were already in place.

It has been almost two years and the estate just recently announced that five entertainment deals are on the table. It took two years to get these deals off the ground and approved. No way would a museum have been together in six months.

So he was planning to live in a house on a cul-de-sac with a non-private/gated driveway? Sorry I have a hard time believing that.
