Because the contract was already signed to build the house before he died. It was even mentioned in the court papers. A few people who worked for him said his living in PP was temporary.

So he was planning to live in a house on a cul-de-sac with a non-private/gated driveway? Sorry I have a hard time believing that.

Why did he have the house built? Why was earnest money involved. Maybe he was having it built for someone else or as a rental property but he signed a contract to have it built.

Oh and the house had a recording studio in the basement. Something that he would have had to request. If he was going to turn Paisely into a museum do you think he would have still been living there?

No. But I just can’t see him living in on a cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood. That neighborhood isn’t far from where I live. I’ve walked by it many times. Nice neighborhood but I can’t see Prince living some place where he wouldn’t have more privacy. I’m sure it was perfect for Josh & Hannah and other band members when they were in town for extended periods and needed a place to stay.

The house that is being built is on a property on Red Fox Circle that Prince owned. The construction didn't start until after he had passed.

Because the contract was already signed to build the house before he died. It was even mentioned in the court papers. A few people who worked for him said his living in PP was temporary.

That lot sold for $150,000 in December 2016. If there was a house being built on it at that time, it would have went for way more.

I will go back and find the info. Earnest money was involved and a house was being built. Also the family has complained about real estate being sold for less then market prices which was not what was agreeded to so this could be one of those situations.

Well perhaps that what the house was for. The other property were musician statyed he put up for sale back in January of 2016.

I have heard that opening PP as a museum was all part of his plan anyway, though never really heard of a time frame of when he was going to do this. It seemed after only 6 months after he passed was way too soon open...kind of a rush job... With him gone, some of the displays might not be what he would of wanted and how it;s being ran he might of taken issue with...

So if he was alive, to do you think the operation and what's going on there now would be different?? What do you think he would of added or removed from the tour??

I've read some pretty horrific reviews of PP and how some people are being treated when they visit there. So much so, I am questioning if I should go there. It seems they really don't have there act together yet...

I think that PP was eventually going to be a museum and that Prince would be in control of every facet of how it was to be run as such. I dont think it would be 100% museum 24-7 though. I'd like to think that he would have continued to spend time there if not live there part time. I dont think it would be running the way it is currently running (scripts, management reviews, wage/schedule conflicts, store issues, product choices, etc). Maybe the same types of exhibits but more interactive stuff, more music, more art, more mystery, more surprises, more jam sessions, more dance parties, more behind the scenes info, more focus on community, more access to the man (when he felt like interacting with fans/fam).. Just more Prince.

I enjoyed visiting PP so I think you should definitely visit if you've never been there before. I think things are improving in terms of exhibit variety and employee training. I do get the feeling that the structure of the tours will remain the same except for specific events (celebration, band battles, etc) and I dont know if the rest of the estate will ever 'marry up' with the museum. Seems like they are still separate operations. I dont think the entry fee would be what it is if Prince were still here and running it.

I believe that PP would be more of a community thing than a business thing.

Just my opinion.

Fair point...but as I asked... compared to how it's being ran now...what do you think Prince would of done differently....

I'll tell you what, I toured Paisley Park several times when Prince was alive, and I have toured it several times since it's been a museum.

-

A LOT of what is on the current tour is (almost verbatim) what was said during the tours for the celebrations, etc.

-

The truth is, when Prince was there, fans actually got to see MORE of the place. The vault being one thing, his parking garage (where Sexy MF was filmed) being another...

We even got to go upstairs.

Most likely, the idea had been in his head since at least the late 90's, the first PP tours I know of started in 2000 & he'd been actively involved in the planning of the museum side of it since 2010..

All depends on whether he kept getting distracted with tours and recording etc...

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

At a P & M show in Oakland, he mentioned about come visit him at PP in the summer

Inside the kitchen area at PP, you can visibly see a June 2016 calendar within a glass frame

I honestly believe that PP would of continued as it were...just adding the museum experiece and also continuing to allow others to rent it for private events (such as dance event that was supposed to happen in may 2016).

However.... with how it is currently being runned, it's not all 100% Prince since it seems like his inputs and personal touches are fading away as they continue moving, changing, touching and evolving PP.

I noticed recently that the VIP photo at PP now has a few outfits & guitars on display back by the piano section. I think it makes it look like a department store rather than being inside his studio. I hope this is temporary sad

If Prince retired from performing (Perhaps health reasons or other reasons.). He would have had to find new forms of getting revenue to maintain the place. So, at that point he probably would have.

It is. Those items were moved out of the soundstage area for the Justin Timberlake thing.
