I can't answer that. I tried, but I can't. Because I can't wrap my head around the concept of not caring how my vault material was released, and that's what appears to have been a main driver in Prince's thinking.

yeah that too | |

Will! If anyone believes the lies that Tyka Nelson had told almost 2 years ago; that Prince did not have a Will! Must be sipping Tyka's koolaid!

The vault is going to be fine. Do you realize some of those sibs would have sold everything by now? He did have contracts with WB and Tidal. He put his songs in the LLC. He was trying to do something.

But if he did have a will he might well have left his estate to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. So we’d be sitting here now having a poll on whether it would have been better to have left everything to JWs or if it would have been better if he’d died without one and left lawyers to sort things out...

. That's how I feel too. The thing with the Vault really has me stumped. I mean, they had to pry open the Vault, so obviously there was no Will or instructions on what to do. It does not make any sense that Prince would not have a plan in place for his unreleased music -- his "babies". He did say (to George Lopez, I believe) that his Vault would be released by "someone", "someday", but I have no idea who or what he meant.

No will if I were able to accomplish what I wanted to accomplish in better ways that couldn't be manipulated by anyone for a long time to come. Won't know of course until it all plays out, but so far I don't think he made the wrong decision about this. Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end

The Vault was of secondary importance to Prince. In order to deal with it would have required him to have to stop what he was doing and go back That was not him..
He was either in the moment or far in the future.
As Laura said, he had plans and was putting them in place
The Vault didnt figure in those plans because to him it was like "the Attic" Lots of lovely stuff representing the past but More interest to your FAMily than it is to you

i would say if prince knew he was going to die as tyka has stated it would seem as if he would of had his house in order. prince doesnt seem like the kind of guy to just leave his music that he fought so hard for with no will yet he left all these instructions for paisley park to be a musem i dont know somethings just dont add up to me

This is a discussion that has been going on since his passing. All the people that worked on the will would have come forward by now to inform the Probate Judge that they prepared a will...the attorney, paralegal, assistant, secretary...someone who was involved in the preparation.... There is no will.

The estate is going thru 70 boxes of legal docs from Patrick Cousins. Prince made provisions with contracts that have thus far not be broken despite the efforts of a few people. WB has the license to the soundtracks forvever so he got his way. He also assigned royalties to "Yes We Can Code"

Maybe [Edited 1/31/18 22:15pm] There are just too many weirds in one place. IMO the only way it all makes sense is if he faked his death. That would tie everything together. But I know I am wishful thinking

in MN there have to be 2 witnesses to a will's signing. So who would those 2 be that would have known and said nothing? Maybe a sibling or someone that would benefit from it NOT being made public and a lawyer willing to go along with that? "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

there are several companies that would have jumped at a chance to properly archive the vault. But remember he said there were several vaults. so who knows what will show up. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

. I don't think that Prince had the time, nor the interest to archive his Vault. Maybe that is something that he thought his children would do in the future, but sadly that did not happen. Like Lovejunky said, Prince was far too focused on the present and the future. There are several Vaults and where do you even begin!! ??

As a never married, single person without child. I can somewhat relate to Prince's dilemma. He knew there would be enough money for everyone. By not having a will he never had to decide who was more deserving of his assests. It's easier to make a will with wife, children or living parents. But deciding which sibling, cousin, friend, nephew or niece should get what is hard. Especially when most don't deserve a dime.

Exactly and as vast as his estate is it would not have taken a day to get it all sorted and keep in mine over the years his income rose and fell a will would have needed to be changed numerous times. According to the ex-wives he did have one when he was married to them so it appears when the marriages ended he stopped being concerned.
