some Trax are missing from the leak of today? if the kid can't make u come = 9mn or so....from 1983....is this the demo with Prince vocals? Purple rain version = 10 MN version or so....I suppose it is the full version from the 1st av 83 ..with the missing verses and guitar part taken off of the official version? [Edited 12/4/17 13:54pm]

Also "Feel U Up" (1986).

I'm curious to see what's different from the Camille version.

it missing ..u'r right...i'M curious too!

As someone else noted before, "Eye Know #1" is a home rehersal live with the band.

Really nice, but still a rehearsal.

"Eye Know #2" instead is a basic mix of the album final version.

It's incredible.

It's from the Duane Tudahl last book, fortunatly Prince was making copies on TDK tapes each day after the sessions !

And by the way the leak is also missing "Alphabet St. (Unreleased Version)", hoping it isn't again the alternate "This Is Not Music This Is A Trip" we already know very well.

Musically, Love 89 has many similarities with The line.

I got the impressions that the tracks that are "missing" are simply not there because they are rehash like the D&P tracks for instance...

That said, I don't think I've ever heard the version of If The Kid Can't Make You Come that's coming, so, what do I know. wink

"Nothing Compares 2 U" is a gem. Finally we can listen to P version.

On a side note, I'm a little ambivalent on the other "The Family" tracks.

Yes, the sound quality here is better than what we have before but still away from what they deserves.
And the frustrating thing is that in my career as a P fan and collector I've already seen them released a dozen of time (first I remember being "The Royal Jewels" 3LP box set), and in all this time I have still to see the surface of the "near real thing".

Anyway, musically they are great as ever.

Now we can compile an alternate "The Family (Prince Version)" replacing "River Run Dry" with "Feline".

It is great, I love it, however I was surprised that it was the same instrumentation as the family version. I always thought he probably re-recorded it for them, and his studio version was more like the live version he performs.

Me too!! I still have that one, it's hard to listen to these days but the nostalgia factor is enough for me to keep it in the collection. wink

Agreed although I love the non-strings version too.

The strings are way out of place for What If, except near the end.

The stuff near the end of this collection is interesting. If you believe the rumors, STRINGenius worked on 50+ tracks for Prince near the end.

The "NC2U" composition is the real deal. About 10 times better than The Family version. On par with the Rosie Gaines version, if not better.

Here I can't agree.

The P original version is in the same league with the "The Family" Version, and about 20 times better (if not 30 times better) than the P & Rosie Gaines "Las Vegas" rendition included in "The Hits".

Frida Kahlo, Rumeta and Pangea are from the same sessions. Theses tracks are so important, they represent the newest stuff we have from Prince.

All 3 are part of the new minneapolis sound Prince was creating, which started with Baltimore, where he plays the guitar track and has it replaced with orchestration.

Rumeta showcases this perfectly. where prince starts with guitar work, and his guitar work is removed and replaced with orchestration that is a replica of his guitar work. Three versions of Rumeta, it is really amazing to have these 3 tracks, they show EXACTLY what his new process was with recording.

It looks like the next album we were going to get was really going to be something special. The new direction he as going with these tracks was fantastic.

Even if you can't stand the Hits version. It's at least a version. The Family is just...Noise.

I don't think New Position works that well with the orchestra. Same with Other Here with Us. But interesting to hear nevertheless.

they work better in a open space like a car than they do with head phones. and someone we know may have had something to do with New Position

I wasn't sure about it either when I first heard it this morning, but I've had another try and I love it now! You really have to try and forget the album version first and listen to it as if it was a completely different song. It would have made a perfect 1950's James Bond intro soundtrack...
